That's why you get a weld the clutch together to the other part.So when it fails, it doesn't go flying or get stuck like that instead it'll keep working, and you'll notice done, because I'll make noises, the bearings will be bad

Don't think I've ever seen a 4 door S-10 before.

@corymorrison4488 says:

It’s an S10, nuff said.

@MitchellBussear says:

ALL S-10'S ARE A PICE OF SHIT JUNK

@Sadies_dad1213 says:

I had a 96 S10 and I loved that truck. Sadly, Michigan winters did a number on it. I had over 200k on it and it still ran great.

My first vehicle was a 98 Bravada and I absolutely loved it (first and last vehicle that had heated seats) I later bought a 97 S10 to learn how to drive stick. Everyone complains about the 4L60E but that is because parents over load them and beat the p!SS out of them, same with door hinges

Were you using a dead blow on sharp metal? lol

I bought my uncle's 2000 S10 from him 10 years ago with 100k miles on it. It's a decent truck, but if you don't stay on top of it as problems arise, you are sunk. Even in a garage kept S10, to run it needed:

-New spider fuel injector system
-All new suspension
-Had a significant leak in a rusted away steel A/C line.
-New distributer cap
-There was transmission fluid in the radiator so it needed a new radiator and transmission fluid change and coolant flush.
-The fuel pump had a high pitch whine and the fuel gauge didn't work any more (fuel pump went out about 3 years later)
-engine and tranny mounts had turned to dust
– new rag joint on steering column
-CD player had stopped working

In the last 50k miles it needed a new catalytic converter, the abs module malfunctioned intermittently, had to take it apart and resolder it, the differential started leaking, the oil pan gasket finally started leaking so profusely I couldn't ignore it any longer ( you have to pull the motor to change it). Theres always been about 1' of slop on either side of the steering wheel no matter how I adjust the steering box.

Even with all that, it's been a good truck, you just have to be mechanically minded to have one. It's good around town and as a commuter truck, but I won't drive it long distances unless I am forced to. It is essentially a car with a truck bed on it.

And who can forget the door sag these all have.

@davidhayter8516 says:

More American built crap. Buy a Toyota.

@nubannub8108 says:

Hold up! The transmission issue is only shift cables? Asking because I have an 08 2500 HD with a 6L80e and has the same issues with shifting

Complete with empty Newport cigarette package. That truck has seen things.

I had a 1999 s-10 with the 2.2 and a 5 speed manual. I loved that truck and would buy on in a second if I could. I bought it from the dentist in town. He bought it for his son his senior year. His son got caught vandalizing the local golf course so daddy took his truck and put a for sale sign in it. I snatched it up quick. 2 yr old s-10 with 23k miles on it for $5,500 cash. I drove it for 10 trouble free years and then sold it for $2000. I miss vehicles like this. Cheap, simple, durable transportation.

It'd be nice, if some car company would make something like this today. It's handy to not need a ladder, to put stuff in the box, from the side.

What a peach!

Realize why American and European cars are terrible. They pay the ceo and upper management too much money, so they have to cut out the real engineers and real mechanics. Than hire people to push their global agenda and sell bad cars to people who are wow to the design.

@Naturalist1990 says:

My 2003 4.3 s10 xtreme has 230k miles and still runs like a fucking champ. The problem is a lot of people didn’t maintain them, nothing to do with the truck
