How to Replace Spark Plugs Chevrolet Sonic 1.4L Gasoline 2009-2015

Here is a video tutorial on changing the spark plugs on a Chevrolet Sonic 1.4L gasoline between the years of 2009-2015. This is a very easy and approachable repair that most anyone could do in their garage. Doing this repair yourself will save tons of money and you will know the job is done right. If you are looking to rent a torque wrench they will be for rent at your local parts shop, otherwise you could just buy one. You will most likely need it way more than once. Thank you so much for watching!

A good idea to take off the negative battery terminal cable before starting too!

that electric connection on my son's car was a bear. I wished it just wiggled off

Ken Sharpe says:

What is the torque value for the spark plugs?

DirtyDan says:

What do I do if the boots do not come out with the power distribution bar?

samevo8 says:

Do you the cylinder numbers from passenger side to driver side? I read somewhere it's 1-3-4-2. I have a P0302 cylinder 2 misfire and think I need to replace the spark plug for cylinder # 2.

gobeyondnow says:

Inside the plug boots on my coil pack the springs don't have any kind of ends on them, just the spring itself. Should I be worried about that? It's a 2013 1.8L and I'm replacing the valve cover gasket after finding oil had gotten all over tops of the spark plugs, inside the boots etc.

Chaunae Blase' says:

Does this also work for 2016 1.8L?

WoioW oioW says:

Can someone offer advice on the calibration needed for spark plug replacement.

WoioW oioW says:

Awesome video. Thank you. I love working on my sonic as much as I can.

Jalon Johnson says:

Do u have to replace the coil pack everytime or can u re-use it ?

Ross Kongslien says:

Do you have a link for the wrench you used?

rgv cateye says:

They use T-40 torques not t-30 like he mentioned. I stripped one of mine for using a t-30 like he said. Had to use a screw retractor to get it out.

quan gascoy says:

My car shakes every time I put my foot on the gas pedal, I feel some hesitation and when I stop at a red light. Can you give me some advice, please?

John Hartman says:

Unable to remove electrical connector at 10 seconds. Plastic is designed to break, AND IT WILL NOT DISENGAGE. This dude just taps it twice it lets go. NOT MY EXPERIENCE.

Leonard Lafrance says:

Hey' did you disconnect the negative cable?, didn't see that.

MrRobear says:

HELP GUYS!!! Do I put dielectric grease on the spark plug terminal and spring or only the inside of the boot??

Anv says:

Thanks dude! I was looking to swap my coils as it was showing a code related to coil D in my cruze. Thought I couldn't.

Damn finally I found that we can swap them.

Also I was in a situation to go to a junkyard just to buy the coil pack assuming I should change the whole pack.

Edit: Also you should change the video title so that it includes cruze as well since it is almost same for chevy cruze and all these days I didn't know that sonic also has the same coil pack and spark plugs.

Llanfabon says:

Thanks for the useful video. I'm coming up on the mileage that says to change the plugs.

Like your watch, by the way

Victor Gomez says:

its a good idea to use compressed air to blow out any accumulated dirt or oil around plugs before so as to not let it fall down into cylinder, and only remove and replace one at a time

Alfonso Zendejas says:

Very useful video, thank you for your time

Thomas Smith says:

What if my boots didn't come out? They're stuck.

Tom Gill Chevrolet says:

Nice to see spark plugs that are accessible for a change. Love these how-to videos. Very helpful for the DIY'er although I wonder how many drivers actually do their own basic maintenance these days?

MrItsthething says:

0:57 Look how much dust you dropped into the spark plug well. It's all going in the engine when you pull those plugs out.
