This is a do it yourself video covering the steps needed to change out your own exhaust manifold gaskets. This was performed on a Chevy 350 small block passenger side. You can hear the distinct blown exhaust gasket noise. Then again at the end of the video you can hear the noise isn’t there anymore with the new gaskets in place. I will post the drivers side change in a week or two. The passenger side took me about 3 hours to complete. This should be consistent for all squarebody 1973-87 GM/Chevy models.
For this repair you will need
-Full set of sockets with extensions up to 17MM (Deep Well)
-Exhaust Manifold Gasket Set (Fel-Pro)
-Triangular Manifold to EFE Valve
-EFE to Down Pipe Beveled Gasket
what do you use for editing?
Thanks for the video. The cover pic actually gave me the answer I was after. Got the same odd ball exhaust gasket with an extra tab for a 4.3 and couldnt see where it went in my astro van. Passenger side cylinder 6 for anyone else lookin for the same answer
Does the down pipe of the exhaust manifold have a gasket ?
What is the part number on the donut gasket?
Great Video you did. But, if you’re using Fel – Pro gaskets there’s no need to use RVT gaskets glue. Fel-Pro gaskets automatically sealed itself.
Luke I have a question for you . Got a 88 gmc c15 .
Driver side manifold has a metal rod I didn't see in your video . It goes directly into the manifold right in between the bolts closest to the power steering pump it's got a nut that needs a wrench I found that a 150 mm works to get it but everytime I try to break it it seems like it's going to snap in two on me and I just don't know what to do with it
You're a piece of shit for not showing how you put the manifolds back on fuck you
Hi, thanks for the video. I had to remove my passenger manifold and when I reinstalled with the correct gaskets it now makes the ticking sound. I can't seem to get it right enough to stop the exhaust ticking sound any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks
Won't rtv just burn off?
Rockauto or Craigslist has new or used ones.. Trick is to have a experienced welder on hand incase you start breaking bolts.
My gaskets are metallic on both sides….hmm
my manifolds were warped so I got em machined but I'm still having trouble getting em to seal up against the block, do u think doubling the gaskets would work?
