Freddiefokker, do you have a video or can you provide more detail about popping off the bottom part of the grill?

freddiefokker says:

After removing the two screws that secure the headlight housing, I still couldn’t get my hand behind the headlight housing enough to remove the daytime running lamp bulb at the bottom of the assembly. If you just gently pop off the bottom part of the grill, you can easily access the bulb without breaking any clips.

vanndrage says:

That is an option and that is what the auto maker wants you to do. It just takes much longer. I myself did not do that (reason for disclaimer). I could not see any structural benefit to using the underside screw. If you leave it in place it will break away from the housing fairly easily. After doing this I noticed no difference with how well the housing is held into place.

Diane Boylston says:

I’m taking it that you have to remove the bolt/screw on the underside of the housing before you can proceed?

crlaw75 says:

I wonder if this will work for the Chev/GMC pickup truck models to.

vanndrage says:

At first they are a bit snug. After you remove the screws then you just have to move the housing around some to get them loose.

vanndrage says:

Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.

crlaw75 says:

How did you get the pins loose?

EliteKilluh34 says:

Great video!

vanndrage says:

You are welcome. Hope it went well for you. Happy to help.

Thanks man. That was awesome

PET7672 says:

Awesome video man, thank you thank you. Will let you know how it goes…loll. Just watched this. Encouraging

vanndrage says:

Sorry, should have made the video sooner. Thanks for watching and your feedback though. I did not go through the wheel well. Doing it this way will possibly damage the headlight housing (hence the warning at the beginning). I could be wrong but I see no reason for the under side bolt other than to force more people to taking their vehicles in to a dealer to have the bulb replaced. I noticed no difference in how secure the housing was after replacing the bulb.

“MyMan”where you this past summer when i needed your vid? =8^D.i had to learn how to do this the hard way..Very hard way..the first one was tough cause i never did it before.but the 2nd one went real smooth and fast.”trail&error”.but i notice you didnt go into the wheel well to get that other secure bolt?at least i had to do it on my.good vid anyway =8^)

vanndrage says:

Thanks for the feedback. Happy this video helped you out.

Edward Crosby says:

So easy! Don’t let a mechanic tell you different! My wife just changed mine for me while I was gone!

vanndrage says:

Much easier. I think they do that to make more people take their vehicles into the dealer to get work done. Glad the video helped you out.

Ken Graham says:

This is much better than taking the wheel well bolts and rivets out. I just attempted this method without removing the side pins and was able to make enough room to get my hand back there and change out the bulb. Too easy.
