I have a 2005 cobalt the blower works fine on all speeds it just makes a
clicking noise rapidly any ideas on if that is a resistor?

1A Auto Parts says:

Usually when you loose the different speed settings like that the blower
motor resistor might have gone bad. We carry new ones on our website

Brian Ray says:

I have a cobalt with this or similar problem. The switch stopped working in
the 3 4 positions. I could twisted it slightly and get it to run on high.
However that no longer works, it will not work any any position. Does it
sound more like mine is the switch? if so any video on how to replace that?

Gemini79 says:

Thank you finally found out what i need to do to fix my chevy cobalt..

Michael Otto says:

Great video! This just happened to my wifes cobalt today. I was going to
just take it to the chevy dealer but after I was quoted $100 just for them
to take a look at it I decided to do a little research of my own to see if
i can fix it on my own. I will definitely be giving this a try and im
praying it works. Thanks 1aauto!

I have a 2007 Chevy Aveo and the fan, AC, Rear defrost (basically
everything on that panel) is not working/acting like it’s not getting any
power. Could this cause this? I have checked all of the fuses (in both fuse
boxes) and replaced the one for the fan (under the hood fuse box). The
other day my wife took the car to work and everything worked fine for her
drive home, this is after several days of nothing and after turning off the
car, it went back to being dead. Could this be the resistor

Mary Armstrong says:

Great video – thanks! Does the battery need to be disconnected first?

1A Auto Parts says:

The blower motor resistor might be going bad, or there could be some debris
caught in the blower motor cage slowing it down. Hope this helps you out.

1A Auto Parts says:

There could be some debris caught up in the cage. You could remove the
blower motor to see if there’s anything caught up in there. 1aauto.com

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to remove the fan cage to see if there’s any debris caught up
in the fan, that may be restricting the air flow.

Ed Allyn says:

GREAT VIDEO THANKS , MINE ONLY WORKS ON THE 4TH POSITION , BUT STILL DONT
KNOW WHY I CAN HEAR THE FAN BUT II CAN FEEL NO AIR IS COMING OUT OF THE
VENTS??

Money Hans says:

My problem is that my position 1 or 2 is not blowing out enough air as much
as a 1 or 2 position should be. Same thing with my #3 and #4 positions.
Also my #4 position feels like maybe a #2 position. I just want it to blow
out enough air or according to the position setting, just like when I first
got the car. I am not sure what needs to be replaced or what I should do.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thank You

1A Auto Parts says:

Usually that’s what happens when the resistor starts to go. You may want to
check the control, to see if it needs to be replaced.

1A Auto Parts says:

Normally if there is a humming coming from the blower motor, you probably
have either something stuck in the fan cage or it could be from the
bearings in the motor going bad.

1A Auto Parts says:

You may want to check for a loose or frayed wire somewhere which could be
causing this intermittent situation. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

Fairly easy Job.

Lisa Adams says:

My blower works on all speeds but barely any air comes out. I have to have
it on the highest setting to even really feel the air at all. Do you think
it’s the resistor or possibly the actual blower motor?

xxboulavardxx says:

is this what can cause a humming sound coming from the a/c? just a bad
resistor? it’s less obvious at higher settings

xxboulavardxx says:

My cobalt’s a/c stopped working on the 2nd and 3rd setting, it only works
on the lowest and highest. I looked everywhere and everyone said i needed
to change the resistor. I just replaced it and it still doesn’t work. Do
you know of anything else that could cause this?

tbskirk says:

Wow now that nice and easy !

1A Auto Parts says:

It could either be an issue with the motor or it could be a blockage with
the cabin air filter.

1A Auto Parts says:

No the battery does not need to be disconnected but if you feel more
comfortable removing a terminal that would be fine.
