If you’ve tried replacing the batteries in your GM key fob and it still won’t work–don’t buy a new one just yet! It may be that the conductivity has worn out inside, and it’s an easy do it yourself fix. All you need is a tiny shred of tin/aluminum foil! This trick works for early to late 2000’s era GM cars for sure, and it might even work for their newer flip out fobs.
This will most likely work on:
2004-2012 Chevy Malibu
2005-2009 Chevy Equinox
2006-2016 Chevy Impala
2009-2017 Chevy Traverse
2003-2012 Chevy Colorado
1999-2014 Chevy Silverado
2000-2005 Buick LeSabre
1997-2005 Buick Park Avenue
1997-2005 Buick Century
2004-2009 Cadillac SRX
2006-2011 Cadillac DTS
2003-2007 Cadillac CTS
1999-2006 Cadillac Escalade
1999-2015 GMC Sierra
2003-2012 GMC Canyon
2009-2017 GMC Acadia
And many more! Hope you found this useful!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been trouble shooting this for a week and this fixed it in 2 minutes!!!!! You rule and are a genius. Word.
My first ever YouTube like since that Beyoncé half time show highlights in 2013.
worked like a charm , my wife thanks you
Thanks for posting this. All I got is the inner part, so I am going to try the a foil to see if that works. I was locked out of my car for days til around 5 pm today. It was awful! Battery ran down because key was turned part way.
Tried this and it fried the fob. Does the foil have to be perfect?
