The 2011 Chevy Avalanche’s oil pressure sensor is located at the back of the engine, on the driver’s side, behind the intake manifold. Replacement involves removing the engine cover, disconnecting the electrical connector, and using a specialized 1-1/16 inch socket to unscrew the old sensor. You may need a swivel or extension to access it. Behind the intake manifold: The sensor is mounted on the rear of the engine block, often described as being on the “back side”.
Remove the engine cover: Take off the engine beauty cover to gain partial access to the back of the engine.Disconnect the electrical connector: Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor by pressing the tab and pulling it off. Check the connector and wiring for damage.Remove the old sensor:Use a specialized 1-1/16 inch socket, preferably with a swivel or extension, to grip the sensor.Turn the ratchet counter-clockwise to break it loose, then unscrew it by hand.Before installing the new one, use a lag bolt to carefully pull out the small filter screen that is likely stuck in the port.Install the new sensor:Push the new screen into the port with your finger.Hand-thread the new sensor in until it’s snug.Use the socket to tighten it an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn.If using a torque wrench, tighten to the manufacturer’s specifications (often around \(22\text{\ ft-lbs}\)), but be careful not to break the sensor.Reconnect and verify:Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor, making sure it clicks into place.Reinstall the engine cover.Start the engine to verify that the oil pressure gauge reads normally and check for any leaks.Clear any related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) with a scanner. #howifixedit #sensor #carrepair #oilpressure #mechanic #chevy #silverado #avalanche #denali #gmc #automotiverepair
