So what does a Job like this Cost to the Customer? As I am going to have
the lower part of my rocker and lower quarter panel extension replaced on
my 01 Suburban, odd thing is the driver side has no rust at all ??? I got
the 7 ft slip on cover rocker and a quarter extension from
Classic2Currentfabrication.com for about $120.00

Thank you so much for your response, just what I needed to hear, especially
from an ole pro ! My body panel supplier did tell me they had to get the
panels from another local vendor, so that had to be keystone, I didnt make
the connection since the label was partly covered over. Hopefully the
stamping is accurate. Any tips on rustproofing the backside before welding?
Thanks again! I will be studying all your vids, excellent work and very
entertaining.

Bryan Williamson says:

Wow 10yo truck rottted rocker huh?? Rough winters I guess?? Luv those
Chev/GMC pickups. I have a 1995 Chevy K2500 Cheyenne 6.5TD 4×4 Extended cab
short bed Denali interior. Brand new trans, rotted fuel lines, and had that
common harness fire under hood then oil leak, still luv that truck. Peace

kerobinsonii says:

Woo Hoo ! Free Rust! LOL!

gtbarnes11 says:

Ok thanks, but im a bit confused there. Use the panel spray after all the
welding is done by drilling holes where needed then plug it up and finish
the outside of panels. What type/brand rust spray do you use? Does it come
in a spray can with a tube/hose to blast it all over/inside the
welds/seams?? After welding bare steel I normally use green etch prime then
2k urethane primer/paint, of course welding will burn this stuff away if
its to close to the bare area being welded.

finpainter1 . says:

We used Keystone parts ,the full version not the snap on,just make sure you
measure door fits and locations, befote you do any cutting..tack in place
.try door fit then proceed. Velvethamma has a series on rockers on his
truck check him out

finpainter1 . says:

guess not ,thanks for watch

gtbarnes11 says:

Hey, I was just wondering how well the the fit came out with the rocker
panels you used , mainly how well the rear door bottom latch fits/closes.
Im doing the same job but with the shorter full rocker panels. Do you know
the mfg. of the panels you used? Mine are made by Key Parts/something and
Im worried about the fit/door latching since they are def. stamped from
different tooling than original. If anyone else has experience with this
brand rocker on this same application please comment! NICE!

The Shade Tree Fix-it Man says:

Looks worse than the rockers on my old 89 Toyota pickup. I hope to fix it
once I get settled again and make some videos in the process too.

gtbarnes11 says:

I have always wondered what is the normal practice for stopping rust at the
welds when a new panel is installed. Thanks again!

finpainter1 . says:

it was thanks

sirsmokealot8546 says:

How much did this job go for ? Im looking into the same job on my 02
Duramax. Will i have to do both inners and outer rocker panels ? Shops
around here say as long as there is enough metal to weld to i would be ok.
Nice work. Im sure it will look new once there is paint on it ! If you were
close to RI i would give ya a call to do my truck

MrComaToes says:

Must be a damn good truck to get that kinda repair with that much rust and
being over 10 years old! The young never think it’s going to happen to
them, do they?

jevchance says:

Free?!?!?!? There’s at least $2 in scrap there! Ace Hardware by me wants $3
a piece for those freaking cutting wheels, highway robbery!

finpainter1 . says:
