02 Chevrolet Avalanche Ignition Case Replacement Procedure – Passlock Fix

Video includes procedures for removing/installing airbag, steering wheel, lock plate, turn signal cam, and ignition case / lock cylinder housing on a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. The procedure should be the same for the 99-02 Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, etc. This is the proper way to repair the problem instead of just bypassing the system which makes your vehicle easier to steal. This is my first How-to video so don’t be too harsh on the recording skills just yet.

Excellent!! I think just what I need to know to replace cylinder case and lock cylinder that was destroyed by theft that stole my 2003 Yukon. I would think this is common so recommend adding a YouTube key word search of "theft" or "stolen" to help find this video.

How do i fix steering wheel lock on my chevy avalanche 2002?

Chase636RR says:

Do you have to remove the lock cylinder in order to pull the housing off? I'm working on a k15 right now and I can't get the lock cylinder out and the housing is broke. I'm hoping I can pull the entire housing off with the lock cylinder still in and put the new one in the new housing. Thank you!

DIY at Mulberry Hall says:

My key will only turn about 90 degrees…not quite to the Run position. I finally drilled out the key lock cylinder and got it removed. Removed ignition switch, it works fine. But a screwdriver used to turn the thing in the housing wont budge past 90 either!! Could this mean the gear in the housing might be bad somehow..? What might have happened?

noel garner says:

I've done everything on reprogramming now light stays on an still want start

Tommy Wade says:

After compressing the spring and putting the locking c-ring back on, my steering column is now "wobbly". So when I put my steering wheel on, it can wobble around quite a bit. Any idea on what this could be? Thank you!
