Driving my SRX at night has been a headache since I bought the car. I discovered that the problem is not the bulbs but the headlights manufactured by GM.
I went all out, I bought a set of new headlights, fog light kit and LED bulbs. I spent 4 + hrs in the garage (and run out of batteries to record everything), but I made it. The final result is much better than I expected. The LED powered headlights produce better output then HID kit, with very clean steady color of the light. See your self.

Did you screw the fog lights in from the back side? I did that and they seemed to have a gap near where they meet the plastic trim panel so then I mounted and screwed in from the front however I wonder if that will affect my ability to adjust them. My car is a 2014 and I was unable to find a fuse in the engine compartment fuse box that goes hot. I am thinking of tapping the running lamps for the accessory connection.

Love the channel, great content
I was inspired by your experience to order the headlights and the fog lights kit and will be taking on this project next week,
I am a bit worried about the fog lights wiring especially since in your other video about the car troubles you mentioned some trouble codes showing up on the screen after the light upgrade and i wonder if you have any tips that could ease this process for me ( How did you run the switch to the cabin/ how did the wiring go ( a picture of wiring could be really helpful if it's not too much to ask for! )
Finally how is the performance of the LEDs so far ? i will be ordering the exact ones and was hoping to get your review on the LEDs after time passed to see if they still perform the same..
Looking forward to your next awesome project.
PS: The headlights you linked are out of stock so i ordered those from the same seller of the fog light kit , Do you think they would perform the same ?

One last question about the headlights. On amazon they have something called with expert installation did you get that one ? I see it cost 90 dollars more per light. Not sure what the difference is thanks for your help

When you bought the after market headlights did you still use the original ones?

I went through this hassle a year and a half ago, traded for a premium version srx with higher miles just for the lighting…

Hi! This is a great video! Thanks!

I have a 2012 SRX (base model). It came with Halogens that I upgraded to LED and then upgraded AGAIN to HID. Frankly, it's better, but far from what is needed. Now, from what you have said and the comments/replies posted, it appears the actual housing is at fault. The problem is the low-beams. The high-beams are adequate.

A couple of questions:

First, you obtained new housing with new LED bulbs. At the end of the video, is that the high-beams you are showing or the low-beam projectors? Because, my current high-beams are okay (they are not the projectors, obviously). The problem is the low-beam. Those are really bad, even with the HID upgrade. I'm willing to can the whole mess if I can FINALLY fix this.

Second, you said the factory-style fog lamps require not only a switch replacement but reprogramming by the dealer? What is that all about? I've seen OEM fog light kits with the correct OEM switch replacement which I believe I would prefer.

I've already blown a few hundred dollars trying to solve this problem with no luck. I'm willing to try again if you think I can solve the low-beam problem. BTW, I clicked on the replacement housings link and Amazon says those are no longer available. Do you have any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Chuck

Can I get a parts list?

I called my local cadillac dealership and asked if there were kits or other lights to chagne to they told me no that it was not the same voltage or something or another and would either to cause the lights to short out or cause electrical issues with the car. I'm worried as I just bought my 2013 SRX luxury in Nov 2018 but the low beams suck but I don't want to do anything that will void my extended warranty. So you buy a new head light assembly, take otut he halogen bulb, replace it with a LED bulb and install? Does there need to have anything done with the wiring to make the LED's work? Also, whom do you know could install this….I do not have the knowlege to do this nor know anyone who can. Thanks for the advice.
