I Just did this job today, I should have just listened to you about your suggestion of tools, man because i used all regular tools plus my bushings were completely stuck to the sway bar like they melted on or something, It was PURE HELL!!! Took me 6 hours strait to complete…..Hopefully I never have to do it again in LIFE!

Orlando Mansur, Jr. says:

Excellent Video. I appreciate how you took your time to position to camera for different perspectives. I was experiencing something similar on my 2012 SRX but discovered torn bushings. Do you think I'd be able to replace the lower control arm bushing without removing the entire control arm? Or best to completely remove including lower ball joint.

George Marcos says:

I had the same problem in my proton persona 2014, and I did the same fixing and replacement for those two rubbers but the technician didn't loose the steering column from the cabin as you did. The clicking sound is 90% gone as I hear it from time to time after driving for a long time but the sound is not high like before. Another technician informed me that the steering column needs to be replaced, I decided to cheaper solution first which is to replace the sway bar bushing.

You should take a video after job was complete

Jag Prakash says:

Its a shame that a rubber go go bad so soon.

Josias Gaona says:

Where can I find the front bushings? The dealer only sales the whole away bar and auto parts store only have the REAR TO FRAME bushings! Do I just have to measure the diameter?

Jerome Smart says:

Good video. I have clunking and knocking as well (2011 SRX). I know the lower CA Bushings are bad (well, they are cracked). But how can I tell if the Strut Mounts are bad as well? I am thinking replace CAs first, Steering bushings second, and strut mounts third. I don't have a camera to record in motion.

John S says:

Thanks for the video I don’t have that problem but when you lifted the car I saw your camera had the evap emission system vent valve In view. I had no idea where it was. I just replaced it.

Cristi N says:

Links have been replaced along with lower control arms, knuckle, upper ball joint, cv axle, pretty much everything except the strut and sway bar bushings. Car has the Hy-per strut suspension( magnetic shocks). Mileage is 145000. Noise is metallic clunk not a thud.

Cristi N says:

I have a 2014 Cadillac XTS with a clunk noise at low speed over bumps and potholes specially when the car is rocking side to side. Is there anything in the shocks that would make a metallic clunk or should I look at the stabilizer bar bushings?
Thanks

I commend you for taking on such arduous job like this and make it happen. Thank you for an excellent footage and well explain narrative.

I have a 2010 SRX, it seems when I turn my steering wheels left to right in colder temps, it sounds like rubber bands being stretched. It's become less pronounced when driving but sitting still or moving a slow speed it's horrible.

Alex Alanis says:

Excellent video sir! My 2012 will clunk as I back/turn out of my driveway. It's not too noticeable while I'm driving but its very pronounced when maneuvering/steering at slow speeds (5 mph) and especially after I shift into reverse turning and backing down a grade. I hope its just the bushings!

I'm going to rig up a camera on my Saab93 2006, i think its the same platform as the caddy and vectra c? How and where did you mount your camera? Thanks for a great video

adam k says:

Thanks for the video. This only proves gm still have asses for brain!!!!

Fernando Rodriguez says:

Great video, but was hoping for a aftermath video as well to determine if the clunking noise went away. My 2011 SRX is making a very similar noise. Did the noise went away after replacing the stabilizing bar bushes. Thank you in advance. Dallas Tx.
