I had to replace the ECM on my 06 Cadillac CTS (3.6L) because I was having issues with the key being stuck in the ignition, and later the car not turning on due to the TC light and anti theft lights on the dash.
Before you spend $1200 at the dealership ( what they quoted me) Check this video out. I bought the ECM Pre programmed from flag ship 1 and it was a simple plug and play. Cadillac is back on the road.
My Cadillac is at 67k miles truly. After a battle with big O tires and GM over warranty repairs, I ended up buying an after market engine built from scratch about 3 months ago. The new engine is technically 0 miles with an unlimited warranty (not explosions, flooding or etc) and I bought that from LKQ motors in Phoenix Arizona.
Overall happy with my Cadillac and hope to keep it running until the wheels fall off.
Had the same problem replaced it almost two years ago sorry to tell you guys it went bad again about to replace it again today
Don’t need take plastic out just tiny cover underneath and stick a pick and key come out
how to regulate the rear shock absorbers where air bag a Cadillac el dorado model 97
I have on '06 CTS 2.8L and if you're having issues with the key getting stuck you don't have to take off the whole plastic around the steering wheel. There's a small whole in the plastic where you can stick like a mechanical pencil up there and hit the release latch to get the key out.
had a friend bring his 05 cts over with this problem. i had a tough time believing that ECM is just failing. After intense t/s. i found communication wires shorted with power wire and grounds. driver left foot kick panel and body chaffed wires together. looks like it was design problem. you have to remove the panel in order to see chaffing.
There is a little hole and there is no need to take all the plastic off. Stick a small pen or screw driver and your good
never buy from flagship one……look at there google reviews STAY AWAY
Why you aint crank it up?
Is this the Same for 2.8L ?
Shit bro you didn't even have to take steering wheel cover off did you? There's supposed to be a little white tab you pop off underneath steering wheel and insert like a pen or skinny screw driver and key will pop out.
I also bought a unit from flagship one and it failed. I return and they replace it, that one also failed, when I return the second one they said it was not covered by the warranty because it was dead when I return it. I still have the same problem having to use the little hole under the steering to get the key out. No gas gauge reading or temp: or IBS. Where else can I purchase the plug&play unit?" Flagship one rip me off. NFG.
Can't even see what you're doing. What kind of Mickey Mouse phone/camera you using? Fail.
Anyone not able to take the key out: no need to remove the plastic covers to release the key. There's a small hole covered with rubber plug, simply take it out and insert a flat head screwdriver to depress the button which releases the key. Hope this helps people out there.
Thanks from KOREA. so helpful~ It's working hahahahaha^^
Video is BS That was NOT a ECM replacement video!
This works got my computer today put it in and programmed key and now I’m good to go it started right up and didn’t hold my key
After you installed your new ECM did you have to do anything besides the key reprogram to get the new ECM to start working? I just installed one from flagship, reprogrammed my key, and its still having all of the same ECM issues – gauges don't work, theft system is active, key wont come out of ignition.
My 05 cts turns on and i can drive it and take the keys out just fine but the engine does not perform right and my car shakes when i reach high rpms at high speed , car feels like it doesn't wanna go sometimes, tachometer bouncing up and down when idling, engine light on and it flashes sometimes.
