+AutoZone, how, exactly, do I know if my strut is bad? My front wheels hop
at 40mph and up and I hear a loud popping sound on certain bumps, as if the
whole front bottoms out. It sounds like a hammer hitting a pan or
something. I see no fluid or build up from leaky fluid, and I’m checking my
tires all the time for uneven wear and cupping. It corners good, but the
whole car vibrates at highway speeds and sometimes if I hit a bump in the
road my car will start hopping and I have to slow down until it quits, then
proceed. I’ve had my rims/tires checked out, balanced, no knots, it doesn’t
pull one way or the other, and the whole front end has been checked out
twice. Nothing bad, not ball joints, tie rods, bushings, control arms,
nothing. Its hard for me to find what it is because I have personally owned
Toyota all of my 19 years of driving and in my family for years prior to
that and I’ve only replaced the shocks on two of my old trucks after 200+K.
Never replaced any other suspension or front end parts except one wheel
bearing. So, I don’t know what to look for…
2010 V6, Sport model RAV4. AWD. Thanks in advance.
