Well unfortunately I had to work on the Daily Driver Buick today. While my wife was driving it the Service Charging System came on as well as all lights in the dash, and the battery light. I have been hearing a whine for a while and thought it was the power steering pump. It turns out the noise I was hearing was the bearing in the alternator going bad. When I had it tested it only put out 8 volts. This video shows how to remove and replace the old alternator.

Perry McKinney says:

Just changed an alternator today. Thank you for the video. Ended up being easy to do. The tensioner was my biggest concern, thought i needed a tensioner tool, but watching the video, it’s done with a 15 mm socket on a ratchet. Everything is working ok and charging system working as it should. THANK YOU !

Wayne's Guns & Stuff says:

Easy job, about 15 minutes, You will change the fuse block soon also next to the battery. it will short out, It cost me $350 at the dealership to buy the fuse block and literally took 25 minutes to install. These cars are always a problem, Everything goes on them, I know i have one.. I even have replaced things 2=3 times on the same parts. especially the heater elbows…. I don't know what engineer made this car, But i think they got him or her from flunky in 6 th grade drop out…..

John Solek says:

NOW KNOW HOW TO REACT TO REPAIR SERVICE ON WHAT TIME AND CHARGES ARE. THANK YOU.

@TWAMotorsports Hi, and thank you so much for your video. I have a 2007 Lucerne and I just had this same issue come up. My question is does the alternator have to be a specific brand purchased. Someone just told me that I probably was going to have to get it ordered by the dealership. I hope you see this and you respond and again I truly appreciate this vid. I thought I was going to have to take it in to the dealership.

Alec Bond says:

How did you know the diagnose to know the alternator was bad? I have replaced the battery in mine and the vehicle only starts when I jump it to get it going. Runs fine and then when I power off the thing wont start again… Any advise?

ElCoquiNegr0 says:

I'm having trouble loosing the drive belt on my 09 lucerne

Joseph Corral says:

You don't understand how much your videos on the Lucerne have helped me, I recently bought a 2008 model and it's been littered with problems, I know once I get it running again she'll treat me right again but for now thank you for all the work you put in the videos and cars I appreciate you greatly!

Chris Johnson says:

Any idea what cause these to go bad? I’m on my second battery/ alternator in 3 years. Saved a ton of money doing it myself the second time… thank for the video!!!

Dayn Kachur says:

Ugggh wish I had found this video last weekend……we also heard the "whine" coming from the sepertine belt, and I also thought it was the power steering pump…… So while out driving to work, it all happened to my roommate…..She pulled into walmart and bought a new battery….. problem fixed…..until it happened to me yesterday. So looks like I am dragging out my metric tools

Bobby Taylor says:

Is this a v6 or v8? I’m looking at possibly getting a 2007 Lucerne with the 4.6l v8 and wondering if they have a lot of issues or if they are pretty reliable.

Stupid Will says:

What percent tints do you have on your windows? it looks beautiful

Joseph Cook says:

Can you show one of these for an 09 buick lucerne cx? The alternator is in the front.

Steven Williams says:

If you still have the Buick I'm interested in it my name is Steven my phone number is 559-394-3685 I have no problem, and then picking it up

Mark Morris says:

I want to see you change one on a csx with the north star. I think you should put what kind of Lucerne you have in the title. I could teach a 10 year old to change one with a v6

Corradetti Motorsports says:

I just pulled the trigger on a Lucerne, pick it up next week, can't wait to get my feet wet with it, nice channel btw!!

Bob Clarke says:

Thanks for naming the nut sizes. Easy fix, thanks for the walk through. Heard a whining sound last night. Voltage was 12.04 with the engine running. Now its 14.4.

DTHGD says:

Im subbing lol.
First person ive seen that actually does work on their lucerne on yt.
(I have on 06 with the 3.8 never getting rid of it)
