Lori, thank you for getting back to me! I've got that problem solved! My 1994 Buick LeSabre needed a new fuel pump. The one in my car and that the mechanic replaced it with the first time, fuel pump part number FG07N, was not the correct fuel pump! My LeSabre required part number FG07P…and the parts place gave him the WRONG replacement part the first time! Then, one of the parts place guys looked the pump up, and with the mechanic using my VIN to locate it, and the parts guy said, "Oh, this LeSabre requires the FG07P." I finally got the right fuel pump, that DOES power the gas gauge!!! Thank you so much!

distantrumblings says:

What does that slot do? I got my new pump in just fine and the nozzles pointing straight left, but didn't pay any attention to the slot. :-(. Can fuel leak outta there? I used the new gasket that matches the old one.

distantrumblings says:

Nice video! Do you need to remove the tire to get to the wire clip- to allow for more slack?

We bought the same Delphi fuel pump for our 2000 Buick Lesabre. Which seal should we be using? The assembly comes with 2 seals. Also, we are having a hard time getting the retaining ring back on. We made sure the tab on the pump is in the groove but the retaining ring still is too tight even when hitting it pretty hard with a hammer.

I just liked and subscribed. Great vids. Question, I also have an 04 lesabre. I start the car and fumes come out of this vent near the tank. It stinks up the whole car pretty bad. Any idea what it might be or the cause?

John Rivera says:

WARNING!!!! USE NON SPARK OR SPARK RESISTANT TOOLS!!!! THIS CAN LEAD TO BIG, BIG TROUBLE UP TO AND INCLUDING LOSS OF LIFE. Good video otherwise but be careful guys.

Hey, Todd! I watched your video on replacing the fuel pump on a 2004 Buick LeSabre. I liked that one but my deal is that I have a 1997 Buick Lesabre Custom with a 3800 engine. A WHOLE different world than the '04 you worked on. Long story short, I had the fuel pump in my '97 replaced yesterday. The mechanic did a GREAT job of dropping the tank, replacing the pump and putting the tank back in place! NOOOOOWWWWW…instead of my gas gauge reading FULL constantly, it reads EMPTY constantly! I've been told to replace the relay to fix this. Please tell me what you think, Todd. Thank you VERY much!!!

Jroc Pierce says:

would this be the same on a 98 park avenue??? hate those dam clips!!! and the old metal sending units!!

c_boogie 85 says:

most repair shops want over $600 bucks to replace. You did this ib no time at all. wonder why they charge so much?

Maciej says:

Is there a way to make a definite test for the fuel pump? I mean to exclude the fuel filter and e.g. the fuse

Troy DuBose says:

I'm trying to change my ECM can you give me any tips before i dive off into this project ?

julio ayalatorres says:

great video, now my question is, how did you color match the connector to the stock one? I have a 97 buick park avenue ultra and the colors don't match the new one. any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated.
thank you

Uniqua Jernigan says:

is this located on the passenger side if so is there wires that lead underneath the tire

zayoutlaw says:

how did you actually remove the pump when you were having all the trouble with the tight fit? I'm replacing the fuel level sensor and don't want to break the plastic to get the pump out.

Tonja McGowan says:

is there another way to get the lock ring off. it won't move

Derryck Tarver says:

Is the fuel pump in the same place on a buick park avenue

Stan Weiler says:

You failed to mention that when installing the new pump, you have to push the new pump down to fit into the tank, while lining up the notch on the edge of the pump, with the notch on the edge of the tank. Or its to tall. I also had to replace the white plastic clips that attach the lines to the pump. Found the clips at O'Reilly"s  auto parts store. Other wise good video, Thanks.

Mario Silva says:

I would use something plastic or other kind of material to release and tie the lock ring. Metal to metal can cause a spark .

djtblizzle says:

Worked great! I had a bit of an issue with the lock ring, as mine was pretty rusty. Eventually got it off, cleaned up, and back on. Thanks again!

Stevie Bottz says:

Wow thank you sir and your helper for the time you took to film this for 1000's to see as this applies to many other GM models

ATCkeepsUsafe says:

My Nissan has a great setup. The fuel pump access is under the back seat. It took me less than Five minutes to remove and Three minutes to install and it has a screw on to hold the pump in place. Made of strong plastic that will never rust. Nissan has One fuel line and One electrical connector. Speaking about swelling, did the fuel pump tank seal swell?. When the rubber seal gets saturated with fuel it will swell up and be to large to reset in its position. That happened to me on my Nissan. I forgot to release pressure from the system and gas flowed on the fuel pump tank seal/O ring that is made of rubber. Not sure what type of seal you have on your car.

David McReynolds says:

simple like a pimple. thanks

StarTrooper47 says:

I like your video man yeah those Buicks are a bitch when it comes to replacing the fuel pump assembly. I had a bit of a problem with my 93 Buick Skylark the fuel gauge always says its full I know it's a fuel pump sending unit I see what I'm looking at when I'm about to fuck with it yeah I'll buy an extra pump in case I break it my pump works great it's just the fuel pump sending part which displays the fuel reading is not working at all.
