Adding soft close to your BMW makes it possible to shut the doors easily, quietly and more importantly securely, without any friction.
Here are the tools you’ll need for the install:
– Pry Tool: BimmerTech trim tool kit
– Torx: T-20, T-35 screwdriver
– Cable: electrical tape, zip ties
– Pliers: channel locks or pliers
– 10 & 8mm: deep socket

If this mechanism fails or breaks, will it prevent the door from closing/opening or will you just lose soft close?

Uh I don’t think it was a good idea to lay that foam barrier with sticky black butyl inside the car stuff gets on everything and does not come off easy

Long zip tie through the door boot works wonders. Also your cable ties in the door look a little oversize for the job.
Removing the door panel – the electric window switch can be pushed out from the inside once the panel is released from the door. Also it's better to start popping the door from the hinge end as it's less visible if the tool does damage.
Do you have a kit for Mercedes GLB? They didn't have the soft close option for the GLB, and its hard to close the doors fully on them, you about have to slam them to close them all the way.
Is this retrofit compatible with the Comfort Access feature as well?
