►Your BMW’s steering system is essential in keeping it traveling down the road in a safe and efficient manner. When your steering rack begins to fail, one of the easiest symptoms to spot is leaking coming from the rack itself. When looking at the rack from above, you can spot grime and fluid buildup on the rack itself, as well as actual fluid spots on the ground underneath your vehicle. Other symptoms of a failing steering rack are, excessive play in the steering, feeling like your car is wandering on slightly uneven roads, or the most noticeable – a loud clunk when you turn the wheel. If you have any of these symptoms, it’s a good indication that you should service your BMW’s steering rack sooner rather than later. Andrew Johnson, a catalog associate here at FCP Euro, has put together a comprehensive kit to help you get this DIY steering rack job done on your E90 or E80 chassis BMW.

How many hrs should a shop charge you to change a 528i 2012 rack and pinion. Or what is the standard hrs to change a rack and pinion in a 528i 2012.
Can you guys do a video detailing the process behind swapping in oem hid headlights?
Thanks god I didn’t buy that piece of shit. All that just to replace a steering rack? What a POS.

I think i can use regular hose clamps from autozone… Instead of them wierd clamps. It tighten up the same.
Have you thought about installing m3/1m rack?
Excellent video
Im not sure if i missed it or not, but did you guys show how to get the steering rack out from the knuckle up top?
Great video!! So Ive been struggling trying to figure where I went wrong! I replaced my pump and it leaked all the fluid out and I didnt know and drove it for a couple days. Then the power steering stopped working, no noise or whining. I replaced the pump and the reservoir and still not working, no fluid movement either. Did i ruin the rack somehow?

Excellent video, thanks. Is changing a rack on a x drive the same process? Thx
is there a part number on it that i can look for so i can get the right part?
My 2009 E90 makes that noise @42 sec. It's not that loud though. There's no play, swerving, leakage, wondering, or anything like that. Can my rack be on its way out?
does this work with AWD models?
Is procedure the same for the 328xi?
Excellent.that really useful tutorial… Thanks FCP
You save my life with your video!!! Thank you it was professional and nicely done.My name is Eddie Palacios, I'm a mobile Mechanic from Midland, Tx. I did subscribe . Awsome!!!!!!
Wait a little confused in the video he said the ends need to be torqued to 121nm then later he torqued then down to 165nm. Which is it?
I ordered the gasket rings (washers) based on your part numbers for my e92 m3 but they did not match the factory ones. Especially on the bigger bolt. After installing and torquing power steering fluid leaked. Can you confirm e92 m3 gasket rings (washer) part #.
these guys make some proper top quality content fairplay FCPeuro
Hi, can you do a video on replacing the thrust bushing in the electric steering rack? I know there is a repair kit that BMW makes to replace it so it would be good to see a video from you guys explaining how to install it. Just bought the serpentine belt kit from you guys after contacting your customer service team.
