Anyone had rough idle and missfire cylinders 6,4,5?

Nicholas von rhine says:

The importance of the spark.great video.

Chris yo says:

I have a 2002 330i with P1353 code have you seen this code or any suggestions on what to do.
Thanks

James Mark-Woody-Woodward II says:

We have new spark plugs in our 2006 330i – could a lean condition kill spark plugs? We had a gas leak (still do) and I think it is the actual fuel line coming from the tank to the engine. This is the carbureted E52 motor… where is the fuel gauge connector on this thing?

Boxerville Manor says:

Excellent video.

Terminated says:

Are the spark plugs car make spesific or universal?

william penn says:

Didn't have to disconnect the battery before switching coils?

kkwesterlund says:

Thank you so much, your videos are just great! This one saved me a lot of money and trouble!

Dan S says:

What about the sensors? 2 cam shaft and 1 crank sensor. They could be bad.

Nick Z says:

What is that obd reader

Stanley Plock says:

I went to a different Car Wash. I got a misfire on #5&6 cylinders.
I read and cleared the codes.
I went to the same car wash and no problem.
A few days ago I went to the same car wash.
The problem came back with the same 2 cylinders.

5&6 are at the back of the engine where there is more heat.
So I will swap coils 5&6 with #1 and #3 to see if it follows.

I just had the Valve Cover Gaskets replaced. So there might be OIL on the bottom of the coils. (A different video.)

I can't see why it would be 2 cylinders at the same time though?
There doesn't seem to be any water getting into the spark plug area.

Notes:
My 2004 325i had little power since I bought it in 2016.
I finally added Fuel Injector cleaner 2 years ago and the power about DOUBLED!
But I'm still only getting 12-15 MPG city driving.
Maybe a Vacuum Leak? Causing it to increase the fuel flow?

It's always had just a little bit of rough Idle too.

Bobby Warrior says:

Great video, thanks for explaining your diagnostic method in such an easy way to understand , I would love to get that scanner app, think you said OBD Fusion ? And probably something that connects to the OBD and sends the info to the phone ? Please let us know, and again thanks for a great video

John Henley says:

Thx…I think I may be running into similar issues. I have new NGK coils (2) and still getting "misfire during start" codes on those cylinders. And my NGK plugs only has 15k+ miles on them…will go install new spark plugs in those cylinders (2). And seems to start off a bit rough but once warm smooths out…at least that's what I think. And a great vid, love how you shared how things did not go as planned and needed to do additional troubleshooting.

Matman Promotions says:

yeah too long, just want to see where the misfire is, not everyone has a `tool`

Ryan Hensley says:

mines missing says cylinder 5 went to start last night to set in and burn one and didnt tun the key over long enough and
i be dammed if it didnt start missing like crazy but mines doing it on bank 3 and 5 unhooking the coil changed nothing at all….so i believe i had bad coils…or a god dam rats going to town on my daily. and to think i get my license back TODAY after 12 long years of going without them…if i pass which cant use my car OF COURSE?!?!! mannnn its one thing after another on bmw no leaks no codes then BAMN leaking codes and missing/hissing to boot lmao..i laugh but im crying inside.

Rye Dubs says:

Hey Fifty. I have a P1347 code – Manufacturer Control Ignition System or Misfire. It sounds like clunking, stalling, and a loud muffler. Sort of a chugging noise. Or thumping noise. Any ideas?

Monen Khader says:

I have fault code (003) 03 fuel ignition cylinder 6 activation
(243) F3 misfire cylinder 6

What the issue

Bob H. says:

Fantastic video, as always. I've got a misfire problem that I need to get around to diagnosing and this video is extremely helpful!

Chef O says:

I have new coils and spark plugs so idk what the misfire is.. I do need new fuel injectors so maybe that’s the problem?

Chef O says:

Does it have anything to do with cross threading your spark plus when putting them in? Asking because I feel like I did that in my 6 and getting random misfires as well while it’s cold

Omar Asghar says:

I have the exact same issue, I didn’t realise you had a video of this exact same issue but mine would misfire quite badly to the point the engine actually shut off, took mine to a mechanic and since he knows I diy myself he scanned the codes, confirmed it was misfires and just told me to change the plugs and bring it back for him to scan just to confirm the misfire is gone, the engines running a whole lot smoother, but still need to get it scanned as it does feel a bit rough on a cold start. (update) its having the issues again, was smooth for about a week before it had a problem firing up once more, has quite a severe bounce on the revs. scanned the car again and flared up DME activation ignition codes on all cylinders

an0nakin says:

man after all these years you still are number one youtuber in here.
I had the same problem,i even went and bought a new coil (stupid) before even checking pulling them out and listening to engine sound.Coils werent the problem.
Guess what, sparkplug in cyl 5 was bad, replaced that and everything is back to normal.
Plugs were also replaced 15k klm ago
Thanks a lot for your videos you are the e46 KING!!

Brian Woodard says:

You could have got counterfeit steel core spark plugs they're out there from China ripping us off break one open see what kind of metal is in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It should be at least copper for conductive

GIORGI says:

I had misfire in winter at cold engine, but after 10 or 15 minutes by turn it off and on again misfire goes away, check light also was sometimes on and sometimes off. I changed the spark plugs but same problem. Then i cleaned oxygen sensors and problem goes away, no misfires and no check light.

E.M.L .G says:

I keep getting a p0301 and p0303 misfire code on my e46 and this started after installing aftermarket headers. Plugs are new, injectors were cleaned and coil packs are good… I even moved coil, spark plug and injector from cylinder 1 and still have misfire for 1 and 2….. I’m stumped at this point. Any advice?
