The cells are 3.6v x 4 = 14.4v. The lithium batteries are 14.4v not 12v. The BMS has cut the circuit to the top terminals as the voltage has dropped below 10v. You have to charge the battery by the inside terminals to above 10v, it will take a while if it is totally dead. The BMS then needs resetting as the battery will show full voltage inside and 0v on the top terminals. To do this there is 2 white plugs together on the side of the battery, unplug these wait 2 minutes then plug them in together simultaneously. This is will reset the BMS. If you check the voltage now on the top external terminals it should show full voltage.
There are a few Battery Life Survey threads on the F80 bimmerpost with most 2015's, 2016's, and 2017's still running original battery. Obviously this is selection bias, but I question your 6-7 year average lifespan claim. Where did you get this information from?
WTF is the benefit of having a $2200 LI starting battery instead of a simple wet cell or AGM battery costing $200-$300? lt seems like complete insanity.
Not sure on BMW but on Mercedes you can program the Battery nanny out of the cars computer if you can navigate the star diagnostic system. I have a 2019 S63 AMG and the Li Ion battery is still going strong with good test readings. When MB first introduced the Li Ion batteries in 2014 it was marketed as being a battery that should last 10 years or more. Mine is $3200 from the dealer so I will code it out when mine dies and install an AGM unit in my car at that time. The battery is super light though.

mine has 12,5 before the boards but 0 on the terminals, any ideas?
