Change Your Turbos At Home! | BMW N54 335i Turbo DIY

In this video I show you how to change your turbos on you N54 powered BMW! I’m working on my 2008 E90 335i. I install a set of Dynamic Autowerks Turbos.

You can purchase the upgraded turbos here (affiliate):

https://ebay.to/2Xw1Ezd

They’re good for north of 500 WHP without breaking a sweat.

These are claimed to be the same or better than Pure stage 2 turbos.

These are put together in the USA via a company called Dynamic Autowerks based out of Michigan. They’ve been in the turbo business for a number of years.

Here is a forum thread discussing these turbos:

You can purchase an install kit here (affiliate):

You can buy the 2″ inlets from VRSF here:

I do this job at home on the floor with a floor jack and regular tools. Plan to set aside an entire weekend to get the job done. It’s not difficult just time consuming really.

This installation DIY will apply to E92 and all E9X models, it would be similar for the E87 135i or E60 535i.

Now days quality upgraded turbos are cheaper than replacing your OEM turbos. You can save some money and make over 500 WHP! Hopefully this video inspires some people to consider replacing the turbos on their car instead of paying a shop.

Even though you mentioned another video about the subframe, you should probably at least mention that you need engine support to hold up the engine while you pull the frame. Some guys may opt to skip the other video and assume that this video is enough

Why your coolant is of coffee color? Is it normal?

I don't even have this car or a need to swap turbos, but I watched the video anyway. Great mix between showing/talking/explaining and not being boring. Keep it up!

Great video!

Matewoosh says:

I'm suspecting my turbo's are burning oil because when I stepped on the throttle couple of times during the weekend, my oil went from half to almost low. Oil pan gasket it different thing, I know it will leak just a little bit, the rest was done. I have rattle but no codes for pressure leak. Should I consider getting new turbos soon?
