In my 2006 BMW X5 when I turn the ignition to the on position it’s continuously is cranking the starter but no start and the temperature gauge immediately goes all the way to the red at the same time. Do you have any ideas what it is? Tia
Thank you for the detailed DIY. Unfortunately, BMW advised they do not carry this part anymore but they can get it for me at AUD$211.00. Don’t really have a choice.

I have ordered an ignition switch for a BMW X5 2004 but the part we receive is slightly different then the part switch we are trying to replace. Are there two different ignition switches for our BMW model that are being sold? If so, does anyone no where I can get them both?
