Ed Maryellen Kmiec says:

I installed replacement adjusters on my 1998 528i today. It was quite easy
to do. Just take care when disassembling the light. They use a series of
plastic snap clips. My care is 15 years old and the plastic can be quite
brittle. If you do this in the winter, let the assembly warm up inside for
a day. Also, the adjusters have a “ball” end that requires some grease and
muscle to pop into the assembly.

So easy an accountant did it!

Christopher Knight says:

Also….put them BACK in the oven for the same amount of time AFTER you’ve
done what ever it was you were doing to headlamps. THIS allows the gooey
monkey snot shit that holds the front clear part of the headlamp on to
become sticky and flexable enough to keep that clear part on and
weatherproof again after your mod.

Christopher Knight says:

Put the entire headlight assembly in the oven at 175 degree F for 10-15
min….check periodically after the 10 min mark……use the heat gun where
needed afterwards…..works a WHOLE LOT BETTER. That’s how I black housed
my Evo VIii headlights AND did the mods on my 01 530i headlamps…….RED
angel eyes!

fredgust84 says:

How long do i need to keep the heat gun before knowing that my headlights
cannot be opened ? Cause I know that are 2 types of headlights, 1 that
opens with heat and another that doesnt. Thanks my friend.

chefnician2 says:

What kind of caulking/glue/epoxy did you use?

fredgust84 says:

usually cars from 2001 onwards have epoxi glue so they can`t be baked, cars
prior 2001 (especially pre-facelift ) can. Thats not a 100% effective rule
tough, best way to know is to apply a hair dryer on the top f the HL for a
few minutes, if the glue becomes soft then it can`t be baked. If you don`t
see any difference you`ll have to cut your open. I cutted mine to replace
adjuster and clean inside of the lens. Hope it helps.

raulassis1 says:

Mine was 09/2001 and had a black glue on it. Fortunately it melted with the
heat gun and I was able to open it to replace my adjusters. I had to be
very careful not to melt the glass though.

Tjuuns says:

mine was not openable, thanks a lot internet

Danyel DGD says:

mine was not openable, i have one broken for test, he have a lot of
Silicone , I warmed up I almost melted, i pulled it until i broke, it was
original Hella with white signal. I’m afraid to try those on the my car
(Hella yellow signal)

raulassis1 says:

how did you cut yours?

Danyel DGD says:

How do I know? what type of lights i have ?

jsrdesign says:

Fuckin pikie

Tobias Kaleta says:

how do u know the difference between them?

raulassis1 says:

If it was a facelift headlight with epoxy how do you replace the adjusters
without opening? Can you post a video with the procedure?

TheJuniorking says:

total ass! thank for two minuets of fumbling the damn thing smh!
