AvinUSA 10.25inch Android 9 display install DIY for BMW E83 X3

Howdy all!

Check out my new branded gear!

I had the chance to upgrade the display in my E83 X3, so definitely jumped at the opportunity! If you are adding this to your car for the first time, replacing the little storage bin on the top of the dashs, you are going to be amazed!

This model is not only an improvement in OS, build and design over the first generation several years ago, but even the back plate is better! I found the surround on the previous display to be a little thin, so at times didn’t want to lay down flat.

Thank you to AvinUSA for another great product, and what a great way to bring updated technology into a little older but much loved car!

This is just the install video and I will have a full function review video up shortly.

I appreciate your great videos! I'm waiting for the android 9 feature review video. Also can you test apple carplay maybe a bit longer? How everything works with the idrive knob etc. Also startup time from cold start would be awesome to know. Thanks!

Hi, I've been looking to upgrade the factory stereo but single din setups look ridiculous and double dins do not fit. This setup looks nice and clean with lots of options, however my experience with sound quality through AUX is terrible. It lacks bass and fullness that a CD or radio station has.. Does this unit have that same crappy audio because its through AUX? How would you grade the sound? Any built in equalizer or bass boast to make it sound better?
Thanks

Hello, I am installing a backup camera for this AVIN unit…2007 bmw x3…and I do need help with that..lol. I can't get the camera to turn on at all…i've tried 2 of them. I have also tried to use external power (for +12V) and yellow video wire to the avin…and whenever I shift into reverse, nothing happens. When I use a multimeter for the +12V camera wire from the avin unit, i don't see any voltage. I have done all of this with the vehicle in accessory mode (engine not on). Any ideas? Everything else on the unit works….been using it for a bit before diving back in for this project.

EDIT: Figured out the issue…problems solved

Might want to back a different horse. I have several problems with my unit and there seems to be 0 customer service. I have sent them multiple e-mails and have gotten no response. Maybe look into andream 1/2 the price??? These guys (Avin) have terrible reviews online. If they are AVIN USA why is there no phone number to call?

Vanblindguy says:

You can run the usb cables into glove box easy by opening the fuse panel drop down (inside the glove box) and also release both glove box drawer support straps/gas shock allowing it to open all the way. There's a super straight shot up into the opening.

hi there! I have a 2007 bmw x3 and I would like to install this exact display in my car. I have been following your videos to try and find what extra cords and materials I will need to get the unit to work flawlessly, however I cannot make a complete list. Can you list what extra stuff I will need to purchase and where I can get them? I currently have no display, it is simply the pop up compartment that came with the original car. Thank you! can't wait!

Sorry my English is very bad. I don't understand the subject.
X3 is new to me, I don't know it yet.
Now the radio is not writing me aux output, only radio and CD.
If I buy such a cable and plug it in:

There will be automatically aux mode?
And can I then mount the media unit?
Thanks for the reply

I am some what of a tech guy, but we can not get the audio to work, we can't get the AUX to come up on the OEM display via the mode button. The Car says it's programed, the BMW dealership that it was cool and wants to look at it for free but they said it was missing it's Aux port and USB drive, and I was scratching my head as I didn't think this unit had one? LOL Any help appreciated as I am about ready to send this unit back…
