10 Minute BMW Battery Replacement & Registration!

10 Minute BMW Battery Replacement & Registration!

To start this video is based on your BMW being compatible with an app called MHD. You can check the compatibility here:

https://mhdtuning.com/mhd-flasher/

This app allows you to tune your turbo BMW but also offers support to register a new battery with just a click.

The process would be similar for pretty much any BMW from the last 12 years. I specifically am working on my 2008 335i E90 with the N54 engine.

If you ensure that you’re replacing your battery with a battery of the same specifications you can save a lot of time. If it’s AGM you’d put in an AGM, if it’s lead acid you’d put in a lead acid. If it’s rated at 80 amp hours you’d put in an 80 amp hour battery etc.

I understand this video may not help everyone so I still have my original video where I got into a lot of detail here:

I also have an even older video where I make the switch from AGM to lead acid here:

If you do not have a K + D Can cable you can get one here (affiliate):

https://amzn.to/36g3S78

Here is an on the go adapter USB C (affiliate):

If this is the first video you’re catching of mine consider subscribing, I upload regularly.

Thanks for watching 🙂

Vehicular diy. So to be clear can you do this by plugging in the K+DCAN to a tablet instead of WiFi ? And do you pay for the MHD app?

BMW 335I says:

Will my oem battery specs match up and be in spec with a non bmw battery?! Hell please

Alrighty, so I have the mhd and battery’s is the oem bmw white battery 2011 335i. Where can I find one that is the same?!

AGM batteries are lead acid.

Good.
Grief.

Higher Ah or cranking amps rating will not negatively impact anything (other than be more expensive).

Stev A says:

MHD now rquires a license to register the battery.

Bryce Drennan says:

0:32 AGM (absorbent glass mat) batteries are lead-acid batteries. The term "conventional flooded" will differentiate this from AGM. Both designs are lead-acid, as is gel cell. They all rely on the same reaction between lead and sulfuric acid.
