How to fix Audi fault code P11B1 Camshaft Position actuator – Easy DIY

This is how to fix the Camshaft Position (CMP) actuator on a 2011 Audi Q5 3.2L. The fault code is P11B1 which indicates cylinder 5 actuator A. The fault codes that relate to the CMP start at P11A1 and go to P11BE.

I found the full list of Audi/VW fault codes at this site:
http://mechanicalee.blogspot.com/2013/03/volkswagen-audi-skoda-vag-fault-codes-engine.html?m=1

The fix is really super simple and very DIY.

It appears the A actuator always to the left for cylinders 4 – 6. What is the A/B side for cylinders 1 – 3? is the A side closest to the firewall for these cylinders?

Thanks Thomas for the 2 diy vid on your 2011 q5! I have a 2012 and got 60k on it. I can now move up from changing cabin and engine filters and wipers to more challenging maintenance tasks! Please keep making these vids and don’t sell your q5! 😉

Hey Tom, nice video but you might want to check on your frog, it looks like he might have hung himself. Your fans are patiently waiting for new Datsun videos.
