On the B6 A4’s, there was a recall with the drain. Apparently it was very prone to clogging. I found about this the hard way when, after a severe rainstorm, I came outside to find standing water almost up to the seats. When buying a used car, always use the VIN to find out about recalled parts and if the previous owner took care of them. Learned that lesson the hard way that day.
You can in fact clean that drain out as well as anything on your car by yourself you do not have to take it to a mechanic shop that's going to charge you thousands of dollars..
