►Audi’s EA839 has been a joy for its owners, providing smooth but serious power. However, that former sentiment is only possible with healthy engine mounts. Corralling all of the turbocharged torque from the V6 is hard work, and after almost 100,000 miles, they’ll be due for replacement.
Replacing your engine mounts can be a hassle, but a necessary one. A floppy engine reacts poorly to pedal inputs, strains all of the components connected to it, can damage the components next to it, and will have a harder time putting down power. A sufficiently blown mount will also trigger a warning light as they’re electrically monitored. OE replacements will restore ride quality back to new, but replacing the mounts allows you to upgrade to a firmer mount made by an aftermarket company, if sharper performance is what you’re after.
In this video, Rusty Herten, FCP Euro’s In-House Technician, replaces the engine mounts on an Audi B9 S5 Sportback with the Street Density mounts from 034Motorsport.
