Audi S3 Puddle Light Install DIY

Audi S3 Puddle Light Install DIY

Hello fellow Audi S3 Fanatic fans! Today’s DIY project, retrofitting puddle and emergency lights into your Audi S3 door panels. The following parts are what you’ll need:

– Vagcom cable to activate hidden modules and to code the lights on
– Puddle and emergency lights with wiring harness: https://www.ebay.com/itm/8x-Door-Warning-Light-Panel-Lamp-w-Cable-For-Audi-A3-A4-A5-A6-A7-A8-Q3-Q5-TT/161584863278?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D44040%26meid%3D1769df9f5263438aa209db28fb4b2667%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D253106849707%26itm%3D161584863278&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
– Oznium 11mm LED: https://www.oznium.com/led-bolt
– Posi-tap connectors: https://www.ebay.com/itm/10-Pack-RED-Posi-Tap-18-ga-wire-in-line-connector-PTA1800M/252019527439?hash=item3aad88cf0f:g:rpQAAOSw3ydVm9bZ&vxp=mtr

On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this project a 4 simply due to the challenges of coding. Aside from that, it’s quite simply. You’ll remove the door panels, install your emergency lights in the stock location, drill a hole and install the Oznium LEDs for the puddle lights. Once that’s completed, you’ll connect the wiring cable from the kit to both lights, then tap it into the door’s wiring connection box.
If you have questions, please post them and I’ll do my best to help.
Huge shout out to www.audi-sport.net as I was able to find the necessary information from other forum members to help me complete this DIY project.

Thanks for watching another Audi S3 Fanatic DIY video!

Is it the same process for a 2013 A3 8V (same pins and code)? Where can I buy the wire you used?

Timid Tornado says:

Thanks for speaking slowly, like I was a 4 year old. Makes it so much easier to follow step by step. It's funny, Audi being so chintzy would make me not buy the car. Like seriously, an SLine Quattro and it doesn't have the puddle lights. Thanks again, I can now proceed to add this gimmick.

I’m having issues installing my puddle lights to my 2015 Audi A3 sports back. The wiring is different from this video. When I hook up the drivers door light it won’t allow me to wind down passenger window from driver side unit

oIBRAHIMo says:

Hello peter, do i need emergency light or i can just put puddle light ? In my case i got the audi spor logo one and the wiring

Turbo Silversurfer says:

Question for you, the panel/indentation panel that you drilled to mount the LED projector light, is that panel removable? It almost seems as if that panel can be removed and would be the correct size for OEM or aftermarket puddle lights that are OEM size to be able to pop right in "one that small panel is removed" as if factory fitment?

Mc Frosty says:

Not sure whether there is anyone here who could reply to me but.. you don't need the LED interior package? With footwell lights? I only have the basic halogen interior lights and no footwell. I'm sure you don't but I'm just wondering as would the plug be energised (and thus the lights) when I open the door? (if they do, I'm sure they're energised as soon as I unlock the car)

Hi,
How did you manage to connect the wiring from the RED light to the 32 Pin connector? Did you splice the wires?

Thanks
Jay

Aggelos Tragaris says:

And what about the driver side i try to connect the cables as you show us on the passenger side and my windows didint work propertly

Vladimir Milosavljevic says:

Thank you for your detailed video. I just done instalation and put led projectors with Audi logo. Do you have video for footwell light wiring and instalation?

Yvan Van Wymeersch says:

Is it possible to do this without any coding and just connect the wires to existing wires inside the doors ?

milkboccle says:

How does this affect my warranty?

william walker says:

Hi Peter I have a Audi Q5 and want to change the W5W bulbs in the door puddle lights for leds what do you recommend I am not keen on the ones with the wire bent over the ends because they don’t fit properly into the Audi puddle light holders and come loose

John J says:

just done this good job

william walker says:

Brilliant video can you tell me are the pins the same on the Audi Q5 for the emergency and warning lights

Scott Kitterringham says:

HI Peter just wanted to say thank you, I followed your video to install a poem wiring loom for the puddle and saftey lights and it all worked amazingly well and I'm over the moon. I did also activate the door handle LEDS if the front but just wondered if you know how to turn the back leds in the door handles and there is no long coding helper for the rear door modules but the options are here but no descriptions just wondered if you no thank again I'm so happy

Ádám László says:
