Daniel says:

How long are you doing the facts for?

XxCiTiZeNxX says:

Seems like Derek had a nice sunday. A little hungover maybe? =) Regardless,
still a great show.

mynameisray says:

Are they really going to fuckin ruin the Supra name with this pissy little
4 cylinder electric fucking garbage?? What the fuck is Toyota thinking!! I
want a modern version of the monster sitting in my garage. It’s going to be
like the Honda CR-Z, everyone was excited for a CRX revival and they ruined
it with a god damn hybrid motor.

Christian Acevedo says:

Holy sh*t the back of the acura nsx looks the same of the jester from gta5
just look

Andrey Mitrofanov says:

#fldqofthed Because racecar!

radar3699 says:

As a physics guy it’s really quite simple… The battery in supercars store
INCREDIBLE amounts of raw energy in chemical potential energy form. In
addition the rate the energy extracted/put back is so high and the thermal
loads and demands are so high that if there is even the tiniest problem
under a high stress situation the whole thing can just explode and/or catch
fire. Batteries/petrol are the same in that they are literally just stores
of potential energy. Ever heard of a solar/wind powered car
exploding/catching fire?

DocWolph says:

#FLDQoftheD The term “Supercar” is too narrowly used, citing AMG SLS,
Dodge Viper, Upper tier Corvettes Z06/Zo7/ZR-1, Aston Martin V12 Vanqiuish,
among others. What you are really eluding to are Rear Midship Engine (RMR)
layout sports cars.

It is an engineering ERROR. Despite being very infrequent, American RMR
sports cars (Ford GT, Mosler MT900 series, SSC UA and Tuatara, Rossion Q1
don’t catch fire due to overheat, from the factory, with ONE Exception, the
1984 Fiero. Note: I said sports cars not super cars. Even so, it is easy to
cause and overheat fire situation, because the cooling systems in RMR and
RR cars are so particular and have to be filled up absolutely properly.

This is also exasperated by the cars being designed increasingly around
fashion instead of function. Make it look good instead of run good. Less
effective scoops to let cooler air in, smaller less effective vents to let
heat out, and tighter less free-flowing engine bays that keep heat in, plus
a lot of very flammable (Inflammable? Look it up and you’ll understand me
consternation) materials right next to the engine. That is NOT taking into
consideration the Radiator whcih may not have sufficient capacity and flow,
and may not have adequate coolant in the first place.

To my knowledge, Front and Front mid-engine Rear drive (FR and FMR) sports
cars do not catch fire due to overheat, from the factory.

That is not to say that European and Asian car makers can not avoid this.
They clearly can and have in the past. But the cause for their fires is
really pretty obvious. The engines get too hot and have no way to dump the
heat except to set the surrounding car on fire.

Sloppy engineering. Straight up.

G9 Music says:

Damnit, i was hoping the Supra would have a V8. Now its just a fancy
looking prius……

Hybrids aren’t the future, hydrogen is the future. Stop making hybrids.

mgmcd1 says:

Pancakes are delicious!

GamingTurkey says:

Derek D, I have a question do you think putting a Ferrari 500gto engine and
gear box in my 2002 Mercedes s320 cdi will woth it or should I go for a
1000bhp+ stage 4 kit ?

GornitzkaClips says:

The Lagonda looks great in this one shot we have. You’re crazy Derek. Too
bad I’ll never get to see one in person.

toneykk says:

i guess you could say ……that nsx was (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) in a hot
lap YEAHHHHHHH

Traxxasrcbros says:

Hello

Calvin K says:

Hey FLD, how come the cow doesn’t have a tail?

Daron cannon says:

I tell you, some of these questions. Lol

BaconKwagga says:

spotting ugly is not your strength, derek.

Christian Augustin says:

Supercars these days have reached a level so high, so abnormal and so
blasphemous that physics and nature declared war on them by lighting them
on fire. The 911 gt3, the Gallardo and most recently the 2016 NSX have all
fallen victim. But there is no turning back….

chris thoms says:

#FLDQofthD pancake makers in cars :p

Alex Zevallos says:

Huge fixed wing on the p1 GTR. Looks so mean. Hopefully Jay Leno buys one
then I can see it in Cali!

Vernon Brown says:

commmennnnnts

George East - Cub NTS says:

Fldqofthed More power – more energy – MORE FIRE!!!!

DontUSASme says:

I think its pushing current battery tech to new – and potentially unstable
– frontiers. Heat from the engine maybe pushing it to where they’ll ignite.

mgmcd1 says:

I tell ya, if the lagonda is anything like the old one, with its Chrysler
440 motor, it will be a POS and break down all the time. It’s like Chevy
bringing back the Monza or Ford bringing back the Mustang II or Pinto. It
was definitely not Aston’s best work.

Caleb Fowler says:

#FLDQoftheD
If you notice the only super cars you see catching on fire is the ones
that dumb ass’s are trying to integrate hybrid electric shit into for no
good reason . you don’t see a corvette, viper , or SLS along with
countless others catching fire and that’s because people aren’t trying to
make them something their not.

Rodd Wehling says:

Bmw and Toyota have ruined the Supra…they all should be slapped. Now
would have been the time to drop in a v8 which thhe Supra should have had a
long time ago…smh…keep your batteries and give me cubic inches…and
maybe a turbo or two

Mr.WhaleShark says:

THE NSX IS THE JESTER FROM GTA 5

Tuffy5132 says:

Dammit toyota why 4 cylinder…
Why why why
Now it’s gonna be a fart can exhaust note
Leave the economy to your gay Prius

Adrian Huang says:

#fldqofthed i think supercars are more likely to be track tested or just
pushed harder in general than regular cars. that increases the probility it
will catch fire. its also because high powered engines make more heat.

Vladimir Debeljak says:

Derek D. question for you; bro do you even lift?

Douglas Nicolas says:

350hp or 315hp?

ThaKenMan says:

I want a muffin button! Way more useful than pancakes.

chacaraman says:

Derek you forgot the sesto elemento sound effect!!!!! now you have to do it
again!

Bryan Doherty says:

#FLDQoftheD It seems like it’s always a problem with glue or the engine.
But I wouldn’t say the NSX prototype would count as it isn’t a production
car, they were testing the car, I’m sure when they test cars now all the
info is going to computers just like all the data from an f1 car, so I’m
sure they know what happened and how to fix it already probably even that
day.

ArneBergsch says:

Finally I understand the cow…

vnitto says:

Don’t all supercars need to have one example that burns to the ground, you
know, to be officially a supercar?

Garrett Williamson says:

Derek D! WTF!? No historic event happened today or something?? Disappointed
but love the show!

Jay C says:

Hearing 4 cylinder turbo nowadays is worst than hearing LSx! A supra 4
banger breaks my heart.
