Hey Bogdan, I just bought a 2009 MDX that feels like a horse and buggy ride sometimes. It is a very "bouncy" ride. I found a Honda mechanic nearby that will place the rear shocks on for $75 USD/piece. I just need to bring the parts. Is the parts listed in this video what you would suggest? Thanks!
The nut snapped off on mine too! Now the bolt is completely stuck in the shock mount from rust. Even smacking it with my BFH didn't budge it! Help!
I tried to remove my rear ADS shock today (just to find out how hard or easy it is) and I can't compressed the shock by hand to get it out like you did. I had to use a metal bar to wedge it and compressed from the top. After the shock came off I was able to compressed it by holding one end with two hands and the end on the ground and pushing with a lot of force. And once I took off my hands the shock moved back up to its original position slowly. Does this mean my shocks are still good? I had to put the old shocks back because I did this as an exercise to see if I can take them off and put them easily. Now I wouldn't have any problem if I need to replace them when the time comes.

Hi Bogdan. I am in process of buying a 2009 mdx with elite package at 228k kms. I noticed that the light is not turning on in the comfort button. I read somewhere you talked about replacing the electronic dampers with the standard ones. If it's done then does it show any errors in the dashboard or I am wondering if that's what's been done with the car I am looking at and the light isn't turning on anymore. Any ideas?
Great video, very helpful. Is there a chance you can use the original bolts for rear strut replacement? No dealer around me seems to carry these in stock. I'd have to order online and wait a few days. Also is it advisable to change just the rear shocks and leave the front original? This is on an '08 with ADS suspension. Thanks again for the videos. Awesome work!
In which case do you have to change the Rear Shock Absorber? How do I know if I have ADS or the regular one? (canada)
A couple of things – do NOT use loctite on the bolt or fastener as it is not necessary and will make future service difficult. If the bolt head breaks, drive it through with a hammer and punch. Other than that, decent clip.

I think anti-sieze would work better than thread locker if your intent is to remove the bolt easier the next time. Thread locker is intended to keep the nut from coming loose.
Great video! Did you ever need to replace the stopper assembly (Part#:52720-STX-A01) on your MDX where the rear spring is attached?
What brand of shock you bought? I am thinking to replace the ones in my 2006 MDX. But the Acura OEM is $150 a piece.
Is there an alternative for elite owners? Would I be able to install regular shocks in place of ADS?
I have a '11 Acura MDX Tech package with ADS. The rear damper with ADS part cost about 3 times the price of a normal damper ($362 vs $104). A couple questions for you:
1) How different is the installation of the rear damper if I have ADS?
2) What attachment did you use on the impact drill when using the scissor jack?
my magnetic shocks are so annoying on my 2007, i replaced a few time.s… they leak after a while
Good video. I'm going to have my dealer do it because I'm busy and I know the lower bolts are rusted and gone. Also one of the rear shocks is leaking a bit. Sometimes it's simple and I go DIY but this one is better for them with the lifts and tools. Keep up the good work!
What impact driver are you using?
Once the welded nut came off, how did you get the bolt out of the sleeve? Continuously rotated it until it started to give and come out? Any details would help as I am about to perform this maintenance as well. Thanks!
Do u have to get an alignment after u finish? Cuz i already got an alignment but if i install new struts are u saying ill need another alignment?
Hey bro. I want to know . The rdx and mdx is the same for changing the shock ?? In 2008 model
