Complex Equation says:

Unfortunately you need to replace the power steering pump. Maybe because I changed the o-ring too late.

chris42000000 says:

this also works for most years of Honda. I did my 98 prelude pump with same o ring. h22a

Tino R. says:

thanks for the video and yes there is a recall on acura tl for this issue and a premature wear on the hose.

Nick Kudlik says:

2003 Acura MDX, part number?

Josh Sosbee says:

Hey George. Thanks for the video. I just did the Timing belt on my 01 MDX and now it makes that noise. I was worried it was one of the bearings on my new water pump, etc but I am pretty sure its just my pump making noise. Now I have to tear it apart and figure it out.

Cheers!

chris keiley says:

recall? I see no safety concerns, this is a maintenance item. this will not cause a lack of steering unless it is ignored for too long. once again maintenance. recalls have more to do with airbags and fuel tanks. however it may be wise for imports to perform a recall under customer satisfaction.

Hey George!

I recently hit a curb in the snow with my 2005 Acura TL. Turned right into a small road at 15-20km/h and all the impact slammed into my left driver wheel. I need to get the entire suspension replaced on the left driver side but something strange also happened with my Power steering pump.

I jacked up the car when I got home and turned the steering from one side to the other. I can hear gushing sounds from my car and my brother told me that fluid was leaking out the top of the cap. (With the cap ON)

After a while, the liquid stopped leaking and when I checked the levels, it was exactly on the "upper" mark with the steering straight. What exactly happened here? My steering feels a bit looser. Easier to turn the wheel. Feels like a new hyundai santa fe in comfort steering mode but I know it should be like that lol.

Thanks in advance,

We had the same problem. I took my wife's Honda to a mechanic who promptly told me it needed a Power steering pump and it would cost $250 for an install price included new pump and installation. I researched my model and make 2004 Honda Accord 6 cylinder and found there was a Honda TSB on the issue and it needed a new o ring costing about $1. Followed you-tube directions and took about 10-15 minutes to remove a hose install the o ring and top up the brake fluid reservoir. Week later same noise thought must have been the pump. Asked a friend who told me there was air in the system just top it off with brake fluid again and keep an eye on it. No way to bleed the system like bleeding braking system the air needs to work its way out of the system. SO IF PROBLEM RETURNS JUST TOP OFF AGAIN CHECK FOR LEAKS PROBABLY AND GOOD CHANCE AIR IN SYSTEM STILL WORKING ITS WAY OUT. To make a long story short he was right. Saved over $250 doing it myself. Wow, the internet is GREAT.

Loay A says:

Bro , please whats the O ring part number for Accord 2009 ? And how u know ?

Paul Sharma says:

so basically the same thing is happening with my car, however when not driving and trying to maneuver out of parking lot etc, the wheel is stiff and hums, humming only happens when the car is cold and goes away eventually as you drive, but the wheel remains stiff in still position. But the wheel moves normally as i drive, now would this be just the rings, or the entire pump?

Thanks for the solution to my problem !
