Honda and acura have a security button in the glove box to turn off the life gate. Sometimes we forget to switch it back on and the back button will not open the lift gate. To fix the not working lift gate is just to turn on the button in the glove box.

This was exactly what I needed. On the 2002 Acura RL, the button is on the front left corner, making it easy to hit while using the glove box.
