This is a common problem with any rsx type s that has over 100k mileage on the dash. i checked everything thing possible under the hood and it came down to THE HALF SHAFT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, IT COVERS THE AXLE. If I helped you out please leave a comment and a like.

You don't have to take the wheel or axle off as well by the way
My car makes that same noise i was about to get ready to take the heat shield off soon cause I know mine is a bit loose. And there's a heat shield by the fire wall behind the header too.
That's just vtec hitting
you CAN take that halfshaft off BTW. I had did it on mine.. pain in the butt, but you CAN remove it. keep trying. don't give up!

That use to happen to me when I had a Mazda Miata. Always at 2500-3000 rpm it would make this loud rattle noise. Never figured out what it was. Now I have an RSX. No problems….yet. Lol
