HOW TO | Acura TSX | Replace Front Sway Bar Bushing

This applies to the Acura TSX 04-08. In this video I give you tips for replacing the front sway bar bushings as it is not an easy job to do. List of tools and torque specs is towards the end of the video. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Keep in mind that the engine and transmission are still being held up by the side engine mount so youll get some space but the whole engine will not fall to the ground, it will stop going down at a certain point. The manual recommends to disconnect the exhaust where the downpipe meets the catalytic converter. This will prevent putting additional strain on the exhaust as you lower the subframe.

If you need to lower the subframe further, youll need to disconnect the side engine mount and upper transmission mount (located directly under the air intake box. You can also loosen the front subframe bolts to get more clearance.

*TIP – grease the inner surface of the new bushings before installing. Use silicone paste or synthetic grease.

*Tip – In addition to using the universal joint with socket, I used the closed end of a combination wrench to remove and tighten the bolts.

I buy my Acura OEM parts from Del Ray Acura because they take Paypal which makes the buying process easier. https://www.acuraoemparts.com/

Thank you. It works for Acura TL as well. Great video.

Very helpful vid. I have an 06 accord v6 and I believe the setup of the sway bar is the same.

What was the issue that you were having so you replaced the bushing? thanks!

LemonyNut says:

One question. Where did you put the jack stands?

James Buckley says:

Same design for my 2003 Honda Accord (US). Crap design! About as smart as the lower ball joint removal process…

kelly j. says:

great video. how long was the 4×6 piece of wood?

Luis says:

Your tutorial was very helpful however i wasn't able to fully back out the back bolt. In part b/c it was so damn hard and also i fore saw not being able to reinstall it once removed. the solution i found was to back it out until just barely threaded and bend the bracket up enough to swap out the bushing. Such a pain

Hong Nguyen says:

FYI, I just replaced by Accord TSX 2008 (Euro In Aus) and you do not need to lower the sub frame. I used a 3/8 socket with an universal joint to get the rear bolt. Work fine.
