2004-2008 Acura TL Rear Strut Replacement

2004-2008 Acura TL Rear Strut Replacement

This video covers the entire process of replacing the rear struts on a 2004-2008 Acura TL. This procedure is also very similar to the 2003-2008 Honda Accord.

This is Episode 2 in the Acura TL Series.

If you don’t have a decent spring compressor, I recommend using complete strut assemblies, or, after you remove the struts from your vehicle, take them to a shop to have them swap the struts over for you. Coil springs can be very dangerous if not handled properly.

David Rasch says:

Watching video like the ETCG series makes me a better informed consumer. When I have to go to a mechanic for repair I can visualize to some extent what is being told me about the repair. Now I can ask informed questions.

Mr Cool Auto Fix says:

Hello Sir, I have a problem with Ford explorer 2011 EATC Not working, mo power on the center dash console, the MFT works but doesn't control the AC system. Plus as soon as I start the engine, the blower motor runs steady blowing heat out through the defrost, this problem started after taking the car to car wash,
I have uninstalled the center console and test the wiring harness for power and it does have a good ground and positive power, but the touch function doesn't work, no button on the center Console such Hazard, eject and all the climate control button to knob nothing works,
Please can you give a good place to focus my diagnostics to get this issues fixed?

DKP Productions says:

really gotta finger that seam

DKP Productions says:

kyb is alright. Bought some Rock Auto discount gabriels for my del sol. If you park it overnight she will bounce like twice until the shocks get pumped up. Really good gabriel.

Cerveza Torres says:

I'm thinking about buying a 2004 Acura TL as a school car for my daughter. 140k miles on engine, 260k on body and transmission. I've heard nothing but bad things about those transmission, should I risk it and buy it for $1,200 or look for something else?

bluecar5556 says:

Too bad you can't just remove the rear speaker deck and sneak behind the backseat.

David Stone says:

Eric, in your opinion, how old is too old to become a mechanic? I just turned 34. Never been much of a car guy but the last few years I've found myself working on my own cars more and more. Mostly because I can't always afford to bring it into a shop – so I've been doing more of the work myself. I've recently been considering the idea of maybe enrolling in automotive classes. But by the time I finish school, start working, and begin gaining good experience I'd be close to hitting my 40s. Too late in the game or should I go for it?

Father Finger says:

who is this hobo? Where's Eric?

stanomx says:

I wouldn't recommend using an impact gun to tighten the top nylon nut. I saw loosened nut (which held the piston against shaft) inside the shock absorbers because of this procedure. Just sayin. Love yadda yadda though.

James Terrill says:

Your videos are always very helpful for us do it yourself guys..

Kai Baumgartner says:

you should always replace those rubber bushings on the strut top mounts, they'll make a big difference on little bumps and dampen the noise better. They're about $2 each from Honda which is probably the same part for Acuras
