How to Wire and Program Your Factory Aux Switches – Jeep Wrangler & Gladiator

How to Wire and Program Your Factory Aux Switches – Jeep Wrangler & Gladiator

A quick and easy “How-to” on the integration of lights or other devices, into the factory aux switches on your Jeep JL or JT!

This is the follow-up to our last video where we installed a Baja Designs S8 10″ light bar, using the Grimm Offroad steel bumper light bar bracket kit. Here, we continue by running a small wiring harness from the light location on our bumper, to the auxiliary wire position near the factory battery. From there it’s just a matter of choosing the right Aux switch, completing a few wire terminations, and ending it with some easy programming through your media console.

For those of you without the factory Aux switches, MOPAR offers an easy to install kit with everything you need to install them into your JL or JT.

Great video and still helpful so many years later! Quick question, on a 2024 JLU Isn't there a another aux relay behind the glove box for internal wiring for any in the cab accessories?

Best video ever!! I immediately found the wire I needed for a cb install. First time Jeep owner so I'm still learning and learning quicker with videos like yours. Awesome job!!

@AStanton1966 says:

Very good detailed video. For the life of me, I don't know why Jeep doesn't make the trailer/switch OEM from the factory on all Jeeps? While some people may not tow, most are only to use bike racks or add additional lights or electronics on their jeeps.

Hello! I’ve seen some comments about this but haven’t seen an answer yet. I am connecting a 20” rough country light bar to my JL aux switches. I cut off the original switch that came with the bar in order to wire it to the connecting aux wires. When I cut off the switch it has a white, blue and a black wire inside of it. I obviously cannot connect all 3 to the one aux wire? Which one do I connect? Do I use one or all 3? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

@RyanTiernay says:

do you have a video showing what to do if the light bar comes with a relay, fuse and switch but want to install in an aux switch? I'm assuming you'd have to rewire the harness

How to connect rough country ledbar 30inch ( with the aux switch) on rubicon 2023 note* ledbar has three wires white blue and black

@ScubaDaveGSXR says:

What about the internal wires? Nobody seems to show anything about where they are.

@patrickdelaney1315 says:

Great video simple will save time and $$
I have the factory aux switch option with tow package
Do I need to add a relay or switch already has relay from factory
Thank you

@bobfay2177 says:

Thanks to your video I easily found the under hood wire ends for the Aux switches. At first glace I did not see them.
Is it possible to hook up LED lights illuminating the side steps that will go on with lights as I grab the door handle?
I thought at first read of owners manual that the programming of the Aux switches allowed this to be programmed for any of the 4 switches. Your video did not show that as an option. I have a 2023 High Tide JL 4dr.
Thanks, Craig
