Been there and done that my Nissan Juke was in a crash when my lad was driving it almost the same damage as on this Defender an easy fix buy no the insurance company wrote it off criminal what was worse is that the pay out was no where near what it’s book price was I had just paid the car off as well. Now I have HP again not happy so much for retiring this year I had planned that the juke would be my last car if you add into the fact that I have cancer. I tried to buy the car back but the insurance company were haveing none of that.

This is why everyone's insurance is rising rapidly at around 40% this year, ridiculous really.
I just bought a cat n, bmw f22, bought a secondhand bumper in same colour and fixed a couple of minor issues like yourself.
Ive put it on autotrader for £2000 less than the average £12000, but no takers after a month ???
So my Q is how to you punt these on ??
Im srarting to thing everyone leases xars that cost more than £10k ???
Great vid – and congrats on the new Defender! It was really interesting for me to see as I purchased a crashed Defender as well (the only pic online is at https://youtu.be/QMJy_XqN5VU?si=41bPaFBRaQS7O58-&t=110 ), although mine is a bit more damaged than yours was. I needed a new subframe, amongst other items. Long explanation as to why I purchased it, the short version is when I went to my LR dealer a little over a year ago and tried to order one they told me I'd have a year's wait and when I found this I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to highlight our product, the GAP Diagnostic IIDTool, while doing a rebuild. Sourcing parts and other projects have kept me from finishing it as quickly as I'd hoped (I could have received one by now easily if I'd ordered one), but I am in the final stages. I hope to have vids up sometime… :-p
I've seen those ebay front ends for 16k too. WTF. I believe one guy has had a front end on ebay for longer than I've been searching for parts!
This is EXACTLY why our car premiums are so fu…ckin expensive.
They write them off for no real reason.
Lazy categorisation will just lead to unwarranted write offs & ultimately more expensive insurance premiums for us all.
We are a real throw away society now, that is madness writing that car off, it’s the ordinary people who’s premiums go up because of this lazy insurance companies easy fix for themselves
