Valve cover gasket is made of rubber which degrades with time.
With a faulty valve cover gasket oil can leak into the engine bay or spark plug wells.
The gasket is a cheap part and it is pretty easy to change.
For a first time it should not take longer than 1 hour.
There might be two challenges, two things may take some time – detaching rubber hoses from the cover and taking the cover off. Be patient, take your time. For hoses use a pick and pilers but even better idea is to use heat on hoses e.g. pour hot or boiling water for a couple of minutes on hoses ends – that should make the rubber hoses way easier to get off (something I have learned later). To get off the valve cover you can use a rubber hammer and a crowbar, pulling as hard as you can could work or not.
According to service manual the cover screws should get screwed in a given order – check the picture in the video.
Cover gasket screws momentum 10Nm
Coil connectors momentum 5Nm
Enjoy no oil leaks from valve cover and drive safe!
