Appreciate the video. My H3 had a blowout somewhere…. Compressor is still good (I’m PRETTY sure). I don’t have the time for this!!! Thanks for the tutorial. I might just send it to the shop anyway.
No need to do so much. Drop the sway bar on driver side and remove the transmission line. It’ll come off from the front of the engine. That’s how I did it. Didn’t have to drain the coolant, remove the radiator or fan.
Great video and detail! One of the only on the H3 as far as I can see. My spec sheet shows me needing 1.5 pounds of freon. Iam replacing several components: compressor, dryer, condenser, expansion valve. Everything is taken apart and flushed and now waiting on UPS:)
I had my AC Compressor replaced by a shop. They also replaced the Expansion Valve and Drier, which cam as part of the Compressor Kit. However, after the installation, when I turn the AC on there is a rattling sound coming from the engine area. When I turn the AC off, the noise goes away completely! Any idea what could be causing this? It was not like that before…
After driving it for a bit the noise kind of went away, but then it came back…
Just changed one on an 2003 by removing the skid plate. After that, remove the belt tensioner. Rotate the fan shroud extension by removing the 10mm bolt on the driver side, then rotating it clockwise until there is room to lower the compressor out the bottom. Easier than removing the clutch fan, shroud, upper radiator hose and draining anti-freeze.

I need to do the same on mine now.
