I had this system on my Yamaha. It was so loud with a rattle that I bought a Solas prop with a rubber hub. Now it's nice and quiet at idle. The flo torq and Mercury prop are now my backup, and yes, I did torque it to spec. It doesn't make a difference.

55 ft pounds doesn't take much lol I'd say you put about 85 to 100
So my 90hp mariner pre 2000 press in hub props will convert over to flo-torq ll???
Hey Jared, you messed up the torque my friend. You snugged it down to well over 55 ft lbs before even picking up the torque wrench. This is evident because the torque wrench clicked immediately (not audio lag, the whole audio to video is crisp and precise) and you took it about another flat or more before stopping. Whether or not it really matters, that prop nut is holding a bit more than 55ft lbs. A very similar and all too frequent thing happens at Discount Tire where the tire guy (or gal) uses a 1/2" air impact driver to draw seat the lug nuts but ends up driving the torque way past the desired torque specification. When they put the torque wrench on it and get the immediate click, all they are really doing is ensuring the torque is at least the specified torque. It's a very easy mistake to make, and although it might not matter very much on a prop nut, over torquing can be as bad, often crushing the very item it is intended to secure. Otherwise, a great video. Thanks!
