How to Remove Transmission Replace the Clutch on a Honda Civic

The complete transmission swap from the DX to the Si transmission. The Si transmission feels fantastic even on the DPFI setup. I still have an annoying oil leak but I believe that is coming from the distributor and the oil pan gasket.

Hey man I used this walkthru to pull a 89 Si hatch transmission from the junkyard and it was so easy, thanks for all the great info. One question I have for you is, when you replace the clutch on a Dx engine (d15b2) do you use a clutch kit for that engine or do I get one for the 89 Si(d16a6)? I’m trying to replace the clutch at the same time as transmission, thanks.

Elihu Lopez says:

Hey bro i just replaced my clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. So when i put it into 1st gear it doesnt work it stalls out the motor. When i put it in neutral the tires spin. When i put it in reverse, it also stalls out. What could it be bro. I put it all back the way it came out!

You gotta be the best civic mechanic on YouTube for sure. Is there anything you don't know how to do on a civic, im jealous lol.

I know this video is stupid old. But I have to keep asking around. Just did a clutch on one of these and now I have no clutch pedal. Clutch isn’t disengaging whatsoever. No resistance even at the arm on the side of the trans case(not a cable issue). Disk is 100% installed properly. Pressure plate torqued to 19ft/lbs. everything from flywheels to TOB replaced.

Sorry to bug you even more John, been trying to cross referance the shifter selector seals between the B-D series transmissions, they do look the same from what I can see but the D16A1 engine and CG trans that goes with it are such an oddball engine and tranny that it would be just my luck that the shifter selector seals are different from the B-series. Been trying to look for that part number on Acura and Honda sites but i cant find the diagram that shows the shifter selector seal with the part number. Thanks again, john. Sorry to bug you.
