I found that thin wire was ok, but a thicker wire seemed to be more consistent for me, but both work fine.
-Making the wire longer makes the range better.
-You can also, instead of running the wire up the window, just tape it to the inside of the dash trim. This gives a range of about 5m.
-My key is an aftermarket key fob called a NU-Key.

There is a optimum length that the wire should be in order to get the best range. I forgot what the formula was but it was something like 27.5" for the frequency that the remote operates at.
Thanks! You’ve made my mind up.
How do you find the Nukey fob ? Is it worth the price.
