Actually, this guy is suggesting a way to do it WITHOUT cutting the
plastic, which I totally appreciate. I found this video by reading the
comments from the other video where the dude cuts a hole in the panel. Thx
for sharing this method, myjeepzia– I’m gonna give this a try this
afternoon. 🙂
the relay harness is what’s bad in these jeeps, don’t just keep replacing
relays
Just replaced my relay a couple of hours ago after watching your vid. The
area where the relay sits is pretty freakin’ small- I’m a girl with small
hands and even I had a hard time getting to it. Can’t imagine a big dude
would be able to! I wasn’t able to get the second screw (on the farthest
side of the relay) back in– it was nearly impossible. Might not be a bad
idea to cut a panel in the future if the relay fails again, and just seal
it back in place when done. Much thanks!

Suggesting to cut a hole at the bottom of the light or over the plastic
near the relay is the worst thing anyone could ever do, it will cost you
way more, I did cut a hole in the past to access the relay better and now
everytime it rains and I’m driving the relay gets water and it goes bad
every few months, I even replaced the fan motor which was told that it also
if bad it could ruin the relay by over amping it, but the reason was the
hole, it made it worse, the dealer replaced & it works now.
This is a Grand Cherokee not a Cherokee. Liar. Fuck you.
I cut the hole anyway,, taped it back up , after. still over heating. next
I’ll replace the temp sensor , hope that’s the last thing I will have to
do.
Well, on my 2000 grand Cherokee, 4.7 liter,, I had this problem to,
couldn’t figure out the over heating problem. checked everything else out,
nothing wrong. I saw electric fan was not working. I was going to hot wire
to battery,, BAD IDEA.. saw the video on cutting the hole. was about to do
that, tell I watched this video. Glad I didn’t cut the hole. if this works
I will tell you in afew days. Tkx for the video.
your relay should of came with a new harness that it plugs into, that’s the
actual problem on these jeeps, (the harness the relay plugs into is the
problem, you’ll just keep blowing relays)
Thats why you see the plastic is bends downwards so water can get out thru
bottom of headlights and it wont go into the relay, cutting a hole is the
worst thing anyone can do, suggesting that is like ruining the life or jeep
of a person, I’ve seen jeeps catch fire and people getting injured in
highways because of relays going bad and overheating causing fires. Take it
to the dealer and have it fixed once and for all. It could save your life.
