RECKLESS XAVER says:

Hello,
My AC blows cool air again, but not cold enough. It was cold and okay last
week. I went to a mechanic and he told me there is a lot of oil inside the
lines. He escaped some refrigerant to show me that. When he escaped some
refrigerant, a lot of oil came out, not gas. Is that normal? Is he telling
the truth?

What will you do if someone bring you a car has the same problem as mine?

Since the old compressor failed until now I paid about $1000 USD. I am
thinking to buy all tools and do it myself by the help of your videos.

Please tell me what to do step by step? no need for details.

Daniel Gonzalez says:

Scotty, I’ve tried everything to find the refrigerant leak on this 97
Accord wagon (back from when the wagons were cool!) . It’ll hold
refrigerant for maybe 24 hours at most before it leaks out all the way to 0
psi. When I add the refrigerant it blows a cool 37 degrees at the vent and
the compressor will kick on (the pulley is wobbly both with clutch engaged
and not but it has been for years and the ac quit working just a week ago
so I don’t know if that’s the source of the leak). I pulled vacuum last
night to 29.99 for an hour and by this morning it was back to zero. A
neighbor of mine has a micron gauge and let me borrow it. Pulled to 500
microns and sure enough it’s got a bad leak. I pressure tested with
nitrogen up to 150 psi and it’ll lose that too fairly quickly but I cannot
for the life of me find the leak. I can’t hear it hissing or anything. I
can only assume its in the evaporator (in the dash as with most Hondas) so
it’d be a real PITA. I’m up in The Woodlands (I’ve been watching you for
years but had no idea you were based out of Houston!) What would it cost
for your help in finding this leak?

RECKLESS XAVER says:

Hi scotty, I have 2009 pontiac g8 6.0L V8

what is the correct pressure for this car?

I think the technician put 45. the ac doesn’t blow cold air enough. Just a
little cold. Please what should I do?

Darkmatter28031 says:

I put more refrigerant in a while ago, and it was about 25-30psi. It ran
great for a day. Then it stopped working and blows lukewarm air only now.
Now Every time I check the pressure, unless the compressor turns on every
10 or so seconds, the low side pressure will go up into the 70-80s. I’m not
sure what happened. One of my friends said I could have introduced air into
the system on accident or that my radiator coolant needs changing since it
can’t disperse heat anymore. My coolant level is less than half and I don’t
think it’s been changed for a couple of years. What are your thoughts,
Scotty?

Kody Darlington says:

Scotty, replaced the compressor on a 95 explorer 4.0 , has a slight pin
hole leak in the air conditioning system, do them R134a refridgerant cans
with sealer built in , do they work ? please let me know . Kody

ray bee says:

scotty you are the man… I finally went out and bought a set of manifold
gauges… I have been having trouble with a 2002 chevy s10 blowing only hot
air 65 to 70 degrees… the compressor is engaged and clutch is working.. I
added two cans of Freon 12 oz each…. still warm air not cold.. this is
why I went out and bought a set of gauges from harbor freight …. I will
try and analyze the problem with your help of course… great videos…. to
bad you were not my neighbor I could drive over and pump your brain for
more information.. think about moving to pgh pa area!

a.c work and had to be towed back home now their telling me its

superc200 says:

Scotty, will the r134 with advanced sealer in it clog up the a/c system??
Orifice tube, condenser etc?

don thompson says:

i have a 2009 aveo and i put my guages on and the low side is maxed out and
the high side is real low about 125 psi….can you tell my from those

Hey Scotty, getting ac recharged tomorrow. How full do you fill it if it’s
completely empty? I heard somewhere 80%?

Fernando Garduno says:

Scotty I have a lincoln town car 1998 and the compressor works good and I
recharged the cool gas but still blowing really hot air

casey Yap says:

Hi, Scotty, I have Ford Explorer 96 . Compressor is operating
but the cycle is short , it’s like 1 sec on and 3 secs off.
that’s why the cold is not max ? Thanx.

Frannyontheone says:

while back i miss niagara falls

Pvulture b says:

I couldn’t imagine this world without Scotty Kilmer. God bless you sir.

David Suarez says:

My compressor isn’t engaging, any suggestions?

calugojr77 says:

You use a recovery machine to recover refrigerant, not a vacuum pump.

jose guzman says:

mui bien gracias

Richard Wilson says:

u are 1 crazy Mechanic. I love watching all your videos, and i am always
trying out your suggestions. Keep up the good work

lorena muñoz says:

Hey Scotty the code is not PU1000 the code is U1000 can you help me what
can I do to solve this issue.

Thanks for the operational overview.

ShadySLAYER666 says:

My dad has a 2001 Honda Accord. I haven’t looked at it yet since I’ve been
away at school but he says that it blows hot air, but just not cold. He
took it into the dealership and they said it needs a new compressor but
that doesn’t make sense because if the compressor is bad then it wouldn’t
blow hot air either right? I don’t think they even tried to change the
fluid in it so is that all it really needs?

Jason Cruz says:

Great Video Scott…. Good tips tank you please Post Video showing how to
using vacuum Pump to remove old coolant

lorena muñoz says:

Is the code

trimont peterson says:

I have a 99 buick centry custom, the ac and all works fine but only on
high. and also my heat only works sometimes. or it will blow heat then
switch to cold air after alil bit. what the issue

jai kanga says:

I have what I consider to be a rather odd problem. Air con runs fine 95% of
the time but now and again the front vents blow cool and the rear warm. I
am unable to determine the cause of this so any ideas would be very
welcome.

lorena muñoz says:

Train fluid and put the fluid u recommend would that affect or would it
help and get to run back to normal

Victor Rodriguez says:

hi again scotty….my friend´s 01 civic is taking a time to start blowing
cold air, around 3 mins, …but then it works fine….should I add a can of
refrigerant or what?

Roy Edwards says:

Hi Scotty, I have a 2003 Holden Commodore VY 3.8 litre V6 and the air
conditioning system blows warm air and the end of the compressor isn’t
running. New compressor do you think? I can’t trust mechanics anymore, I’ve
been ripped off a few too many times. Any advice will be much appreciated!

hi scotty kilmer i am using santro xing 2004 model. i am facing two
problems with my car a/c. PROBLEM-1:my car a/c is good in cloudy climate
and evening times only. car a/c cooling is not enough in mid day,
especially in summer time, when the temperature is around 30-40c. so can
you suggest me solution to this problem.
PROBLEM-2:recently i went for long drive distance around 460kms. after
driving for 120kms my car a/c fuse blown, i replaced it with new one, again
it blown in 10 seconds. after that again i replaced it and after driving
for 60kms that fuse also blown. what i am observed is if i drive my car in
highway continuously for long time(100-150kms distance) with speed
80-100kmph.my car a/c fuse blows. But if i drive the same distance with
60kmph, the fuse working good same thing happened for 3 times .so i took
my car to many mechanics but i heard different answers, so i don’t believe
them. so could help me regarding these two problems.

What if it still don’t blow cold enough

Scotty Kilmer says:

add only vapor, liquid can ruin the compressor. Small cans are impossible
to get the correct amount in though, and here in texas at least anyone can
buy the tanks.

jimbola77 says:

nice video scottie thanx just charged my a/c!!!

Scotty Kilmer says:

see my video I just put up last week “fixing modern car Air conditioners”
and realize a machine like that is needed to work on modern ford ac systems
too. could easily be a blend door problem, but you need the computer to
analyze that

Scotty Kilmer says:

buy a new fan motor, they just flat wear out spray does not fix them

Scotty Kilmer says:

often just low on refrigerant, check that first.

Scotty Kilmer says:

depends how comp may be broken, sometimes they lock up and don’t turn,
sometimes they turn with little resistance and are burned up inside instead.
