Well done, what a great video. I always do my own pan drops but was not
able to find anything on mine, a pontiac g6 2009 but has the same tranny.
This is great thanks for taking time to do this!

Just out of curiosity because your video was very informative and well
done! My question is what about the fluid that was left behind in the
torque convertor? Could you have ran another hose from the cooler supply
line to a bucket and added fluid with the car running to get that fluid
out? Or is that fluid left behind fine? I’ve been reading and see that only
2/3 to 1/2 is actually removed from just dropping the pan. This will be my
first time doing this myself. And I just want to make sure I do it right
the first time. Thank you!

Robert Krupp says:

just what i was looking for! Thanks, very thorough and informative. Looks
easier than how the repair manual described.

Very Understandable how it happens.

Thanks for the awesome video. Just bought a cobalt for my wife, noticed the
transmission gasket seemed to be leaking so I followed your directions to
remove it. Started draining it, the fluid would not stop coming out. I
think about 14+ liters came out. What is the deal with that, and if it was
overfilled do I have anything to worry about? (should also mention the
transmission was cooled down by the time I got around to removing the pan.
There were no pieces of metal on that magnet thing)

Joe Gutierrez says:

Great video production with this task!
Thx for posting and sharing this topic.
Just a couple of questions:
does this vehicle have a ‘torque converter’ and if so was the fluid changed
out of the converter as well?
Another question: Our car seems to have a mysterious clunking/clanking
noise coming out of the passenger side axle area when the car is parked at
a slight incline. The noise seems to disappear after the car ‘warms up’.
After checking the passenger side axle I found that it appeared to have a
tremendous amount of free play coming from the ‘out put shaft’ of the
transaxle where the cv axle inserts into. What is going on with that
transaxle?

Josh Parker says:

SoundGuyDavo great video and very helpful I have a 07 Chevy Malibu I bought
the car new and it has close to 150 thousand mostly hwy miles on the car.I
have changed the motor oil every 3000 miles but the transmission, fluid,or
filter has never been changed.I know now I need to change the transmission
fluid and filter but I got a few questions first
1-On a 07 Chevy Malibu is this the same way you would do this for this car
2-Does the car need to be idling the whole time or do you cut it off when
the fluid gets to the right temp.I have seen others say idling, some says
turn car off because of pressure that would cause being burned by spewing
hot fluid
3-What if I wanted to just top off the fluid to make sure it is full How
would I do that.Would it be okay to add new fluid to the old fluid. Thanks

John Holcomb says:

I know they share a lot of the same parts so I was curious. Would this be
the same process for a 2009 Chevy HHR? Nice video and thanks.

GHANDIDI says:

To fill the tranny, take off the air cleaner housing…gives better access
for filling tranny and also for removing engine oil filter cap when you
change engine oil

phigo4kins says:

Why do You NOT Recommend Flushing if its Pitch Dark Brown? Shouldn’t
Flushing benefit it at that Point? I Thought that would means the Oil is
Very Bad, because the Tranny have been working Very hard?
