When I change pads, and I dont put on a new rotor. Should I clean the old
rotors in some way? In that case, how should I clean them?
Question on rotors – how can we decide whether they need replacement or

Think you have to pump the the breaks after the job to bring the pressure
back up. I know little about cars. Just my input.
On another note, I’m changing out my pads, how do I know my rotors also
need replacing?
If I dont have that spring you mentioned at the end, would the car make
clunking noises and stop clunking when you press the brakes

Slide pins should ONLY be lubricated with silicone grease, so as not to
damage the rubber that surrounds them. You might want to note that.
Do you have to open the brake fluid container, or keep it closed while you
change the pads ?

I replaced my brakes but my front driver side make a grinding sound when I
break. What’s causing that? Also my rotor was smooth but since then it has
a thin grove in the middle

i didnt have a torch wrench, so i payed attention to how hard it was to get
off, and made it about that tightness again. I made it nice and snug, but
didnt wrench it super hard, and made them as identical as i could. anyone
know if this is super bad that i did this? it feels fine and my breaks work
like new
“And remember… always wear your safety glasses.” Now go back and watch
the video again. Oops :-)

This is great. Other than the sensor squealing, what is the rule of thumb
for replacing pads (20,000 miles? 25,000?).
Also – Can you do this with a regular tire jack, or do you need a lift to
do it? Not much room with a jack, but would love to try to do this to save
a few bucks

These may sound like a stupid idea, but is it possible to replace the brake
drum with brake pads? I am thinking of a VW Polo. To get nice brake caliber
on alle four weels, like cars with 4motion(4×4). It will be part of
styling, and I guess it is a lot of work to get it to function properly,
but if it’s is possible, and not too much work, a video or comment would be

Remember to press the brake pedal a few times when you’re finished, so that
the pads will sit correctly. A colleague of mine forgot that, and he ended
up denting a customers cars.
before attempting to push the piston back in its bore, open the bleed screw
first. rust & sediment result as moisture accumulates in the brake fluid.
some unknowing technicians will bottom out the piston in caliper bores
without opening the bleed screw. this forces the sediment from low parts of
the system back to the ABS and master cylinder. _according to this
automechanic book i am reading right now.
I was trying to take the caliper out but it won’t budge. I can see a piece
of metal through the mid section of the caliper. I looks like a clip of
some sort. is this what is preventing me from taking the caliper out? I
didn’t see it in the video.
