My 98 grand stalls and back fires. I heard the filter is in the tank is
this correct? Also seems like my jeep is dieseling when it stalls out.
Sometimes it will start immediately sometimes not. Any ideas?? Crank shaft
position sensor? fuel pump or fuel filter?
Jerry,
My son’s 96 Grand Cherokee is doing the same thing as Tarvis Seward’s jeep.
Cutting of at low speeds or an idle. No check engine light. Any ideas?
Ill remember that. Thanks!
How u suppose to get the lines off?
Hey man greta video!! I’m going to do my filter next week. Did you notice
any difference in milage or performance after the change??
Um, is this the same for a 02?
It will take about 60 seconds for the gas to go through the lines again.
Keep trying to start the car. If it wont start after 2 or 3 minutes then
you have a bigger issue. Maybe the fuel pump.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. How did you released the pressure?
Ok I need help. I bought my 94 zj 5.2 from a guy for $400 bucks. Long story
short, he thought the whole fuel system was out and it was actually just
the 20 amp fuse in the power dist. box. Anyways the gas tank is off, the
pump was good, the filter was on but I red
Thanks again! Have a great weekend!
amazon says that filter won’t fit my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado I6,
does it?
97 and 98’s are in the gas tank
1999 Laredo l6 when it starts up in the morning good but when I drive maybe
20 -30 miles then turn off the car for about 15min turn it back on while
the car is hot stalls for about 30sec to 40sec stops after stalling but not
turning off the hole time then drives fine?
It fit my 19 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo I6 just fine, so it should work for
yours as well. Amazon will point you in the right direction though.
I hav
Not a HUGE difference, but it did help. It mostly helped my Jeep idle less
rough.
Jus fixed my car before I had to make a commute to work. Perfect!!
Disconnect the lines from the filter? There are little snaps you have to
release.
You too. Good luck w/ that filter.
1997 & 1998 ZJ fuel filters are on top of the fuel pump on top of the gas
tank. And there isnt a 1992 ZJ.
Nice! Glad I could help.
Thanks so much. This video helped me big time!
What was the size of the bolt?
Replaced it. Now I have 3 fuel lines, two go directly from the pump to the
front of the jeep, and one goes into the fuel filter. I have searched
online at forums videos, etc and can not figure out which of the sides of
the fuel rail the line from the fuel pump goes to. I hope my question makes
sense and hopefully somebody can tell me because that’s the only thing
holding me back from driving this beast.
I don’t know if this helps but according to my Napa computer, there isn’t a
fuel filter on the standard Cherokee
I just separated the gas lines a little from the filter itself and let the
gas drizzle out that way. Make sure to do it slowly. There is a pressure
release up by the exhaust manifold, where the fuel line goes to the
injectors… but to be honest, its just simpler to just pull the lines off
the filter.
Is the fuel filter location the same on the not-so-Grand standard Cherokee?
*which side of the fuel rail the line from the Filter** goes to* sorry
Great video! Just remember that gasoline is carcinogenic and rubber gloves
should be used to avoid skin contact.
So after watching this vid my friend and I decided to change the filter on
his 96 grand Cherokee and after doing so it won’t start??? Any help would
be appreciated!!
It could be a number of things. Is your check engine light on? That would
give you some hints as to why it isnt working right. It might be your TPS
(throttle position sensor) But its hard to say for sure over the internet.
some filters come with the plastic clips installed–
Hey Jerry, I have a question. My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalls while
driving. At low speeds and idle, my vehicle seems to want to cut off and
sometimes does. I was on the hwy the other day in traffic and when I was
driving low, my car cut off a couple of times, I had to put my vehicle in P
and tried to crank, sometimes unsuccessful. I got it home as soon as I
could. Could this be a fuel filter issue?
i have a v8 5.2 gc Laredo and it struggles to start bad idle, like it
struggles for power almost wants to die when I give it gas, im thinking
injectors or filter idk where it is or if that’s whats going on not to car
smart
