Alright Pete thanks im going to get it torn down this weekend and get some
new rotors on there. once again thank you for responding and the awesome
vids keep up the good work!
Hey Pete love the vids keep em coming! I have a question, i have 1986 pick
up with 4×4 and im not sure if it has the press in rotors or the screw in
type, and if they are the pressed in type how would you recomend getting
them on and off? I have read through my manual and it really doesnt
specifiy.
great video man
Thanks for the great video I have a 76 FJ40 My axle housing might be bent.
I was told to pull the birfield out to determine this. Is the 76 FJ40 front
axle similar to what you did in your video?
Yes pretty much the same thing, just a bit bigger parts. Check out my video
for accessing the birfield quickly (they won’t let me post a link in here,
just go to my channel and look for the other Toyota front end related
videos.
thats pretty freaking smart dude! never thought of that haha how would you
get a broken exhaust stud out? i tried with my vice grips, but there was
only like 1/4″ max sticking out…
@analog56x I’d soak the broken off bolt in PB Blaster (penetrating spray).
Then I’d get the dremel out and put a nice deep slot into the broken off
stud so I can get a big flathead screwdriver in there and turn it out. You
may have to heat the area a little wiht a propane torch. I’m not a big fan
of ez-out extractors because, well, I’ve broken enough of them off in the
bolt I’m trying to extract, lol. The dremel-slot-flathead method has worked
well for me over the years.
nice work dude….no hand on yet …. mostly studying 🙂
@1NeedsAudio I think the rotors on the IFS trucks are bolted to the hub
bodies, independent of the wheel studs. I just checked the factory service
manual that I have for 1988 and it shows the rotor just being unbolted, the
problem is you still have to take the hub completely off the spindle to get
to the rotor bolts so it’s all got to come off any way.
