We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows you how to replace
the calipers. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Do you have video here or your web page for replacing Calipers as well as
rotors/pads for 98 Explorer? Must be AWD, cuz I don’t have to turn anything
on wheel and works in snow! Thanks a lot.
You should be able to apply some of the basics steps that are shown in the
video to the rear.1aauto.com 888-844-3393
the rear side is the similar process ? I love the video.
Big big help thank you guys so much.
@markgildersleeve Thanks for the post, yeah I’ve even got a few mechanics
that use my videos to cut down the time it takes them to do a job. I am
happy to help anyone save time, and saving time saves money!
We always recommend torquing them to the correct specs., if they’re
tightened down pretty good, you should be okay.
Fustrated I been doing my brakes for 5 hrs I got everything off but you
dont show putting the caliper back on. I got the new pads on but cant get.
The caliper back on is there somwthing small im not doing
this is bull….i have a ford explorer 2000 and my rotors dont come off
that easy, i need to take the center cap, safety metal pin, and so on just
to take the rotor off.
My brakes are locking up right after I start driving in my ’99 Ford Ranger.
After I use and pump them a bit, it goes away. This usually seems to happen
after a) my truck’s been sitting a while, and b) it’s been raining or
really humid. Could my calipers be shot?
hey 1A 2 questions, i have an 03 explorer xls AWD does it matter if you
have an AWD 4×4 or it’s all the same …thanks.. gonna “try” to do my own
tomorrow oh and also what’s with gettin air in your brake line is that
common when changing pads and rotors ..? thanks again..
thanks…cause I have a deep circle within my rotor and wanted to see how
it was changed instead of payin someone
Nice Goat!!!
If you can’t get the caliper back over the brake rotor you may have to
compress the caliper in some more with a c-clamp. This will give you the
extra clearance so that you can get the brakes back on.
We currently do not have an auto repair video on this particular vehicle.
The basic procedures should be fairly similar. We do carry the Haynes
manuals on our website that would show you how to change them on your
truck. Here’s a link to them on our website.

It should be a similar process. There may be a few things that could be
different such as different size tools that may be needed.
I have a 2000 ford explorer and it also has the center cap with pin and
bolt to get the rotor off. i guess this means i need different rotors than
the ones you use in the video???? Please help.
Thanks for this guys. Was easier than buying a Chilton’s or Haynes manual
to get the right torque specs and stuff. Had a brake job at Precision Tune
before I left Florida and they forgot to put a mounting bolt back on my
brakes. You guys saved my truck 🙂
i use this video to change a brake pads in a ford explorer 09 ill do it by
my self when i dont use the brake make some noise how can i fix that ?
Would it be the same for a 04 explorer 4×4
so it doesn’t matter which way the pads go. How about where the wear
indicator hits the rotor?
HI Victor, If the new pads are squeaking a little, you can put some
anti-squeak lubricant on the outside of the brake pads. You can buy it at
your local auto parts store.
Thanks for watching. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
@redneck500 They should be fine right out of the box for you to use on your
vehicle.
@1aauto aaahhh that would make sense, but just for future reference you
should add a 4×4 because it makes hell of a difference buddy. thanks any way
