It’s been almost 5 months and no vibration or shimmy, fingers crossed. I do
believe the slotted and holes will help vent and cool the brakes better so
even though some worry that these are lesser known brands, I think they
will extend the life of the rotors. Prior to this, I have used Raybestos,
AC Delco, NAPA, that very expensive Cryogenetic rotors, and they all
warped. So for me, this is cheap to try.
Those are are ‘torque member bolt’ holding the rotor bracket and they are
115 ft-lb (this is according to the 2004 Nissan Quest factory service
manual)
Thanks for your comment. When I have to do brakes on the Ody, I will
definitely do a video, but it might be awhile as I only have 34k miles on
my 08 Ody.
HA! This is hilarious! We previously had a 04 Quest (grey) and upgraded to
a 08 Odyssey (white). We also had the same problem with the Quest rotors
(which turned out to be fairly common), and I replaced them with a drilled
and slotted set almost identical to yours. Any of this sounding familiar?
Regardless, your videos are excellent! Do us a favour and make a Odyssey
rotor and brake change video too. I’m due and could use the tutorial,
although it seems easy as long as nothing is seized.
Cross drill can be machined but many shops won’t do them or tell you they
can’t. For the price of these, I’d use it for 2-3 sets of pads and throw
them away.
Thanks again for the videos on the Quest. I am looking at some
Brakeperformance.com brakes and pads to upgrade the OEM ones.
Also, how about a video on changing the Spark Plugs and Cabin Filter?
What pads did you use? Ceramic or semi metallic?
nice vdo, thnx
Thanks for your comment
Question, can those rotors be resurfaced or are they a one time function,
and did you rub grease on the caliper bolts
Did the slotted rotors that you installed last longer/help with the
warping?
Hello What are the torques used in Foot – LBS in the brake two main bolts
where you used the Air tool to remove them? thnx
